How often is he going to come over here? It gives them options to ditch Murphy and Hayes. I did suggest the other day that Kalpana could benefit from getting rid of Murphy. Soumillon will be disappointed to lose the ride on Sunly.

Report uptheirons June 13, 2025 3:27 PM BST
Becket readily admits that it was entirely his fault for Westover in the King George as he was far too keen throughout.
In a nutshell, you are talking nonsense itsfuntorun
Report Itsfuntorun June 13, 2025 4:01 PM BST
Now now keep it civil, apart from the fact that Beckett couldnt possibly have caused the horse to run free, he immediately replaced Keane with Rob Hornby for the Arc, what do you think of the 2 rides on last years Ebor day or the 2 rides Chapman is referencing????
Report uptheirons June 13, 2025 4:07 PM BST
I don't care a jot about Chapman's opinions.
I shouldn't have to tell you but The King George run followed on two races in the English and Irish Derby.
The horse was given a decent break before its next race.
You either understand horses or you don't.
Report Itsfuntorun June 13, 2025 4:19 PM BST
Ok,but  Westover ran 3 races in 2023 in much the same timespan, second in the coronation cup, should have won in my opinion, won the group 1 in France and second in the king George. Beckett never put Keane up again. What about the 2 rides at york Ebor day 2024????????
Report uptheirons June 13, 2025 4:23 PM BST
Becket stated that he should not have run the horse in The King George.
You are entitled to your opinion but I suspect Juddmonte might just be a better judge of a jockey than you.

Chapman couldn't care one iota about those rides, though he's no doubt spent hours researching any poor Keane ride he could find. All he cares about is trying to justify his ridiculous championing of Shoemark as the next Piggott. That's what this is all about. He just can't accept that he was wrong.

clearly would have been much shorter but that's a different issue altogether as its perceived pecking order of stablemates

so what are you quoting them for then?
Report Cider June 14, 2025 3:50 PM BST
It's an extreme example but a horse without Moore could go off at 4/1 and with him jocked up 5/2.

That form of analysis assumes the sp reflects the true chance over hundreds of tests. But it doesn't really. Keane will nearly always be over bet.

And it's right that the market reflects who the jockey is. But in the long run, it won't accurately be reflected in the outcomes (imho).

that lockinge had moore, murphy, buick, rossa ryan, marquand, shoemark, levey, SDS
hannon 2 runners but essentially no pecking order information revealed by the jockey bookings

its not giving moore 8.5% upgrade imo (5/2 from 4/1)

Report Cider June 14, 2025 3:58 PM BST
The Lockinge market reflected that several of the prominent runners were expected to come on for the race.

I just think it's impossible for those types of jockeys to beat expectation as there mere presence on the horse impacts the expectation. A Frankie, Moore, Murphy, Keane.
Report wondersobright June 14, 2025 3:59 PM BST
simply is not in the figures as he's not above those 7 riders to that extent & not even above some of them

Not every race, as the market will gravitate to the correct prices generally. Definitely there will be that type of differential in early trading.

If it was that easy we could lay them all!

this is what I think

back in the day pre-BF top jockeys likely a few % underpriced
but those prices weren't layable in the open market

Report Cider June 14, 2025 4:09 PM BST
It will yes but jockeys like Keane are starting off with a handicap as them being jocked up on the horse materially impacts the market (on the short side).

They are often jocked up as the connections fancy the horse (outside rides). So it's self fulfilling, like I said. Personally I wouldn't use expectation to judge results for a jockey where them simply being jocked up usually influences the market.
Report wondersobright June 14, 2025 4:18 PM BST
with respect I think you're underestimating fluid markets
tissue prices/early shows to no money...maybe
