There is more chance of swimming the Channel handcuffed than competing effectively with giants of the game in Coolmore and Godolphin

Exactly, Black kettle etc.

Not a fan of him at all, obnoxious and arrogant to name a couple of reasons. It's incredulous a person can get so wealthy by doing what is essentially trading humans and their assets; he's not even a licensed agent and some of his dealings are known to be dubious at least. For legal protection, i use the term 'allegedly'.

Not to mention Juddmonte.
Kia preaching morality is more than a bit rich after his dealings in soccer

You don't invite a controversial guest on to give your own opinions, it's to get theirs. Luck interrupted him continually.

I'm sure he has a huge input, but 'you' is in the context of the show. Luck kept telling him what he was presuming Kia was thinking.

Kia was right in that sense, if Luck had another powerful owner on he would not be interrogating then like he was doing today. It was a completely different approach to the standard one.

Say what you like about Kia and he may well be a bright flame who burns out in time but racing has been a closed shop for too long. Speaks his mind and a breath of fresh air imo

Just watched my recording of this show - before I saw this thread.

Why on earth was Nick Luck so OTT? He would not let Kia finish a lot of his sentences.

One thing being wary of what a guest might say but another trying spoiling the interview.

Got to say that Luck is now often allowing his ego to come first rather than just ask questions and then listen to the answers. But, he probably has young young and thrusting producer in his ear trying to provoke controversy. I just do not understand why the younger generation appear to thrive on argument and conflict!

Tbf is that show not live? He was probably petrified of liable. That was very close to the bone stuff re Oisin and Balding

Luck and his producer may well have scared of libel but two thigs in response to that.

1/ Luck did not allow Kia to talk about most things, however innocent, without trampling all over it.

2/ Why have a guest on that they surely would have known was likely to be a bit sparky??

To prover my point about Luck and his ego, watch the Talking Points bit closely every week. Not so much yesterday, but a lot of weeks, Luck sets up the talking point using up at least 30 seconds of the 2 minute talking time scheduled. to be fair, though, last week when that young lad presented it (his name escapes me now) it was daft. He was spending nearly 90 seconds setting up each of the talking points.

The art of interviewing is to allow the interviewee as much time as possible to answer.

It wasn't just the alleged 'fear' of breaking the law.

He asked him if it was business or pleasure, answer was (paraphrasing) both. He must have proceeded to ask him another three or four times, claiming he wasn't getting an answer.

Kia took it pretty well on the outside, definitely had more than a veneer of an attack, rather than fact or interest finding. Which I alluded to, is not the usual MO on that show. This is the strategy you usually see from interviewers hoping to get click bait for social media.

Yep, i thought it was a poor interview by Luck continually steering Kia away from interesting topics but taking him too far away, ended up becoming a Luck monologue.
