Thats great news. He'll get a great reception if he wins. He"s still no 'great' imop but hopefully runs his race win or lose.

Taking prejudice out of it CH is rated 7th best hurdler of all time by Timeform
By:
Agree with all mjk said

The performance in the Supreme would have won any Champion Hurdle I have seen
By:
What price a fall
By:
It's good news indeed. I hope he jumps every hurdle cleanly - win or lose. I'm not worried about having a new pilot on board. Still a week to go though.
By:
Unfortunately uptheirons I’ve seen a few I doubt he would have won .

If greatness was judged on one singular run then Arazi and Hawk Wing would be greats.
Even this season, the pace that Brighterdaysahead went from start to finish at xmas was as a spectacular a performance as I've seen in a long time....but it's in isolation. |
By:
Providing his jumping school goes ok this weekend .
By:
The best example of a spectacular performance but in isolation is harbinger in the king george
By:
He's form speaks for itself, btn only when on the deck.
Top class hurdler. |

It will be interesting to read peoples opinions.
My tuppence worth, whatever its worth, would be whatever they field in opposition they wont be able to lay a glove on him over 2 miles. To my eyes he just oozes class and I know hes fallen twice .... But he is a good jumper. He's slick and quick through the air. Sometimes you just need the rub of the green to go your way and possibly he was just unlucky. Who knows ? He should have learnt his lesson after falling the first time, as most clever horses learn from their mistakes, so maybe it was bad luck. Its in the past now but as a racing fan I would love to see him returning to his best, as its been a long time coming ! Fingers crossed he will give us all something to cheer as we get so few real champions and he was almost Frankel-esque before it all went awry. Wouldn't it be amazing if he could pick up where he left off and show us what he can do, before age starts blunting his speed and give us some great races to enjoy. . . |
By:
His peak performance was 2, maybe 3, years ago. We really don't know how much ability he retains.

Fair play to conections for sticking by young Bowen.....I would have had Cobden all Day long.
By:
Yes Acey, I agree with you, Harry would have made an excellent choice , but nicky is old school and rewards those that put the hours of graft in rather than being mercurial.
James bowen will be fine , but Harry cobden would have been sublime to see on him. |
By:
Something will happen this week to make him a NR. You can't believe a word from this trainer
By:
'mrcombustible', you know I'm not a Hendo fan. But, I'll reserve judgement, and watch the market like a hawk; Hendo writes for a bookie!

By:
Only an escapee from Rampton would back CH ante post (assuming you could do so).
Wait until the day |
By:
Hey geniuses , CH jumped 8 Fences today ....
By:
Not surprised and I saw it
By:
irons.....did you ask what the reason was for getting him to jump 8 fences?....was it in the hope to get him to respect hurdles a bit more and not to just clear them by an inch or two at times? Btw....how did he jump them?
By:
As I saw him jumping on the RP Website it would have been difficult, layemall.
He jumped them well |
By:
BTW,the grass was to quick for hurdles schooling
By:
Oh I see, I thought you maybe an owner with Nicky H and happened to be there at the time!
By:
If I was I would not have commented
By:
Why wouldn't you?
By:
I would always leave comments to the Trainer plus, if it didn't get out I might get a better price in Ireland
By:
Fair enough mate
By:
no lossiemouth mares or nothing
By:
Hardly a surprise.
I hope that nothing goes wrong with State Man |
By:
Mullins declared 6 ,maybe forcing CH to follow BDA or test his hurdling jumping amongst runners
By:
King of Kingsfield will lead its BDA with CH following,
BDA drifted like a barge and ran accordingly and never went a yard which was a baffling run |
By:
doesn't seem any of the believers are in any hurry to back her at 6,s
By:
Who would take a chance on her running and doing their money in cold blood?
By:
I'd be taking the advance going with a pinch of salt, whatever about tomorrow and Wednesday at yielding I'd say Thurs/Fri and Sat will be on the quick side unless they water which they don't normally do afaik.
The next 5 days here are dry and warm with temps averaging 21 and 22 first 2 days. |
By:
Will you manage to get there at all this week punchestown?
By:
The 13/8 offered on CH two days ago will be a thing of the past come Friday
By:
11/10 is the best you can get at the moment.
By:
But,Jinxy, that is ante post and you do your money if a non runner {that also assumes that you retain a Bookmaker Account)
