It’s the question everyone wants to ask JP McManus: “What have you backed for Cheltenham?”
And the legendary punter has given the somewhat surprising answer to the Racing Post in a rare interview due to be published in Sunday’s newspaper, in which he opens up about his rise to the top of the sport, puts right some myths about his background and discusses his philosophy on racing.
McManus also reveals that he has so far backed just one horse for the festival and it’s not even one of his own – instead siding with Copacabana, owned by Edward Ware and trained by Willie Mullins, in the Champion Bumper.
Yer man has Aqua Force in it trained by Wicked Willie. Putting people off the scent?
What are the rules regarding backing a different horse in a race that you own one running in it?
Obviously you cant lay your own horse on here but you can back something else?
