Doubt he needs a racecourse prep for the Arkle based on how well Hendo had prepared him first time out

So a good chance he goes to the Arkle with one chase win, beating a horse who effectively had no chance over two miles on a sharp track. Not great for an odds on shot. Presumably, Majborough will get a bit shorter.

If he was the only one then it emphasises the difficulty of the task.

Presumably, this was a very good ante-post result for the bookmakers as the market was all over him, and you can imagine the champagne corks really will be popping if they can get him beat in March as well. Majborough in to 7/4.

Not sure if to the only one without checking but I remembered well chief.

Remember it well. He smacked the crap out of one of the fences on his debut and still won easy. I rushed on the phone and got 500 quid at 20s and was there to see him win that year. Johnson in his interview after said he had backed him for the race.

From twitter

We have some news to share on Sir Gino.

Regrettably Sir Gino will be unable to run at Newbury tomorrow as he has sustained a small wound to the inside of his near hind leg which is sore, it must have occurred during routine exercise yesterday and although he is less sore this morning than last night I am afraid it will not be completely cleared by Saturday. We anticipate that he will be back to normal by the beginning of next week so the timing is very unfortunate. This will leave us with a dilemma where to go in order to get another run before the Arkle. The Pendil at Kempton would be an option although it is over 2 ½ which is not ideal. There are very few alternatives except for a newly created 2m novice at Bangor on 26th February but that is getting horribly close to Cheltenham

I thought maybe CH had something wrong with him and Sir Gino was being kept back for the Champion Hurdle

Very true jimnast it’s a shame they are times that will never return. The phone was so convenient especially if you made a quick judgement on a price before the masses twigged it.

If he is injured he wont be going Champion Hurdle or Arkle. If he isnt injured he will go Arkle.

We could maybe have a Binocular situation on our hands can you let me know when he goes stratospheric in price please lolol.

Wasnt stopping at Kempton over Christmas time, surely 2 1/2 miles within scope of horse given race
will cut-up even more if he participates and Nico can set his own fractions if he wants,
plus he's won over an extended 2m at Cheltenham

Agreed NEC, the crucial thing is the jumping practice.

Looking thru the last 16 runnings of the Arkle the only winner off the back of one chase run was Western Warhorse in 2014.
If Sir Gino doesn't run again over fences that's some stat to overcome.
Not saying he can't win, but not the ideal prep for an odds on poke.

Be it one thing or another, you just knew that there was always going to be some kind of drama from the stable.

difference than in the past is trainers will have stiffer fencersat home than they do on racecourses these days and he can jump 50 a week if they wish, not as if he,d be running against anymore more than 2 or 3 rivals in any race before the ARKLE,so he,s never going to run in a large competitive field before the ARKLE anyway

I prefer Majborough now after his last run in a grade 1 which he won in a canter.

Little cheer for those antepost in a 2 horse race. Would have backed him but not involved, it's the fibs and bull of the trainer that I'll find unbearable if it drags up to cheltenham week - valuable airspace ruined

Fao Swifty nifty. I don't have any parties in Unibet mate so will stick with the Hendo team. You ok with that I hope.

It's prudent not to back any shortie of Hendo's antepost with nrnb given his past and association with a bookie. Apparently, he's thinking about a 20f race at Kempton 2 weeks prior to Cheltenham. Lunacy or utmost desperation? Nothing in Ireland?
