It's not about the horse racing. It's all about how much money they can squeeze from the paying public. Some of those race meetings today will be charging a fortune on gate admission and then the price for food & drink when they get the paying public in.

It's not really any different from most sports events. I was at the rugby the other week and it was £21 for 2 cans of magners and a can of Guinness, food was also extortionate.same as golf, football, concerts, festivals. Not saying it's right but racing imo isn't the worse.

Mad that really, at least in terms of us bothering to bet here - noticed a few of the markets were extremely thin today, which is not surprising given competition for possible races to be focusing on at any point!
