Obviously not a selfie with my lad. I meant to type ID.

proof of address and passport or driving licence. Nobody could need more than that.

Best not to open betting accounts with shysters,my only two accounts now betfair and b365, **** ok.
By:
tell them you've changed your mind and you'd like your deposit back. they can either send it back or you will reclaim it through the small claims court, either way they will not be keeping it

same thing happened to me with hilly wills. £500, never bet because i didnt like their website. wudnt let me withdraw, but said i could bet with it. every photo i sent they said wasnt clear enough to read. i had to back with them (find losers) and lay on here to get it back
By:
Why did you want an account with these people? better prices being offered?
By:
far too gullible. ok corral tried with me. sent them a letter before action, head honcho phoned, no need for that mr hulk monies are back in your account sorry for the confusion. you threaten the scumbags with the judiciary ... and they crumble.
By:

""wudnt let me withdraw, but said i could bet with it"" ffs ![]() ![]() |
By:
spent the next 3 days betting 6/1 shots with them, laying them at 8.4 here and sh!tting yourself in case they won ...
![]() ![]() |
By:
backed with them when shorter to lay on here. markets move fast and their odds didnt update quickly enough. lost the 500 to them, but made 650 on here.
By:
then you woke up ...
By:
thats how i got restricted by 356 after a week or so, and lads in one day. they dont like arbers
By:
backed with hilly wills when shorter to lay on here
sounds reasonable. pmsl ![]() i presume you then deposited another £500 and did exactly the same thing. and then another £500. oh no, sorry i forgot. you're talking bullsh!t, sorry. i thought you had a system tigger. |
By:
Why did you want an account with these people? better prices being offered?
As usual, no answer. |
By:
it was a few years ago now, pre covid. i would have been restricted by them very quickly anyway, i was just getting what i could while i could.

hilly wills. better prices being offered?
you avin a laugh bird ? |

Like everyone that bets with bookies they are looking for ricks an hour or two ( or more ) before the event.
By:
correct howard.
By:
Why haven't the Gambling Commission stopped these theiving practices by online betting companies? What the hell are they for ?
If they want ID they obviously must be made to ask for it BEFORE taking even a fiver from a customer. Such a simple thing yet the GC are too incompetent to enforce it. |
By:
And then worry about getting deposits back etc.
By:
every bookie is looking for people who are looking for ricks an hour or two ( or more ) before the event.
like a fookin hawk. touch one and ya gone. and he'll add ya name to the list, the one they definitely don't pass around ![]() |
By:
correct hulk.
By:
Close them all down for me.
By:
I never ever got why, they were so bothered about arbers. After all they often gave away the value to secure a tenner.
By:
Thanks everyone - I'm following up with some of the suggestions. Assuming my remaining email route proves unsuccessful, I'll send an LBA to their head office. Obviously arbing etc isn't the issue here as they never actually let me have a bet.
Sparrow - apologies I wasn't able to reply within your preferred timeline. I signed up as I often bet on low liquidity horse markets that betfair don't offer - such as betting without favourite, so the more the merrier to get money on. Big mistake. Judging from the general reviews I should have checked beforehand. |

Good luck Davros, let us know how you get on retrieving your own money from the theives

Do all of us a favour and contact IBAS. Just ask whether it was appropriate and legally sound a bookie could approve a new account and accept a deposit then insist on a photo ID verification even before a bet had been placed? And, threatened no return of deposit until the request for ID verification initiated and approved.
Why do bookies not do a due diligence eg thorough ID verification before approval and acceptance of account and deposit? |
By:
Thanks ease - will do.
impossible - IBAS advise waiting to see of the company resolve it first. I'll pursue that once that avenue is closed. Cheers for the tip - forgot about them. |
By:
bookies should have to lay to £500 liability any event and never be able to restrict. how the GC allow them to basically only allow mug/problem gamblers is a sham.
By:
No worries, davros.

Update. (I've been busy with other things to chase this).
ECOGRA dismissed the complaint as I didn't exhaust the bookie's complaints process. Then out of the blue I got a withdrawal alert which I suspect was a result of an email in December to the parent company's second opinion email. The withdrawal failed as my card had expired. Again they say unless I provide the documents requested they can't process a withdrawal. I've raised an official complaint and should get a response in 24 hours. You couldn't make it up. They did quote their terms and conditions which say they can ask you for notarised documents and if you don't provide them they can keep any deposited money. |
By:
They now want a copy of my bank statement too.
By:
Tell them you contacted a solicitor and they are concerned…..I’ll be surprised if they don’t pay today tbh…

As the Racing Post has repeatedly pointed out recently - This is the risk you run if you bet on the "Black Market". They're not licensed or regulated, so they can do whatever they like with your money, treat you terribly without you having any recourse or having any way to challenge them.
Oh no, hang on, all of the "bookmakers" referenced on this thread are licensed and regulated in the UK, so they can still do whatever they like with your money, treat you terribly without you having any recourse or having any way to challenge them. ![]() |
