Rioters, now as in 2011, have the full force of the state thrown at them as a deterrent, so everyone stays away and behaves like good little lambs. There will be serious riots again, no doubt, but give it another decade. This year's lot have been metaphorically castrated.

I was saying that the rioters were put in prison very quickly, and with length of sentences that wouldn't normally be given for the level of the offence, if it hadn't happened in a riot situation

The bit about the Manchester Airport incident was a separate point, but in both cases I think the sentencing could be problematic if the public see it as too lenient

There were rioters that deserved jail, then there were people encouraged to plead guilty for speech in a supposedly free speech nation.
The things ppl said were inconvenient for a government hell bent on denial of error or responsibility or even admitting the problem.
People were called criminals pre trial, yet that apparently wasn’t jeopardising their right to a fair trial, whereas people who simply based their views on the stabbing case based on previous examples were treated like they had committed some heinous crime, because the truth again is inconvenient.

You can’t talk about the problems because the narrative has been decided for you and what you get told is what they want you to think.
Everyone who didn’t agree was labelled ‘far right’ while creeping towards another set of ‘hate’ laws trialled in countries such as Scotland, and now Ireland.
Now we have Parliament encouraged to not ask difficult questions about timings of who knew what, when, in contrast to what was divulged as the official statements as the two opposite positions now start to converge. When Parliament finally gets to debate this whole affair expect an absolute 5hite storm, because you can deny and hide the problem for only so long until finally you have to face the facts.

The idea that the state regulates opinion is the stuff of communism I’ll give you that, but to think that for perhaps the first time in living memory the majority demographic starts to ‘riot’ and all sentiment is lulled by state directed injustices that did more than send rioters to jail, it interfered with people’s right to protest, has remedied that sentiment is pure stupidity.
They gaslit the public into thinking simply being at protests was akin to being racist rioters, when it is not….they also had plans to re establish the meaning of Islamophobia, one based on race which is about as insane as the wokerati asserting what a woman based on a feeling. The MSM also gaslit people into thinking having legitimate concerns about the economics and cultural aspects of immigration was akin to ‘far right’ tendency, when it is not.
What Starmer’s government has done has simply pushed the problem down the line, people havnt changed their opinions because of threats of silencing them, if anything that only makes it worse.

The protests and disorder happened because people aren't as stupid as they hope, and are fully aware we're being gaslit to protect people high up the grievance hierarchy.
