american var expert woman, who one presumes is a world authority, didn't think it should even have been looked at ....

even when it was, she would be amazed if it was given

The defender put his foot up to block the shot and not to do Kane,Kane kicked the under side of his boot.

Not a penalty and VAR has destroyed the game.

Well he is a bent referee already convicted for taking a bribe, and the Germans do hate the Dutch , not beyond the realms of fantasy for him doing something dodgy. But I suppose it was VAR that asked him to take a look

I suspect there are quite a few Scots, Welsh and Irish contributing to this thread Laugh Going into a challenge with a foot that high is clearly dangerous play and a penalty all day long, the woman pundit is clueless, and Gary Neville has always been an idiot. England, England, England. LaughLaughLaugh

Sour grapes is an awful condition to shoulder. In all likelihood England can now go and win this as Spain arent the great side they were five plus years ago. Lord only knows how you guys will feel when England are crowned CHAMPIONS. ExcitedLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Won't get a luckier penalty than that.
Hopefully go on & win it now.

There hasnt been an outstanding team in this tournament, England could quite easily win now, Spain are no great shakes. Southgate could be the spoiler if he decides to bring TAA back into the team, tonights team selection looked good, and balanced prematch and so it proved.

so Kane should've been pulled up for a foul too then? You utter muppet.

So, had Kane's shot gone in would there have been a VAR check and would the Dutch guy been booked? Of course not.

I am stunned that a penalty was contrived out of that. And, sorry to say, it looks like it was contrived.

VAR has ruined football and given the opportunity for ego-bound officials to step in and play a part when there was no part for them to play.

Why did they review it anyway? Did the referee make a 'clear an obvious error'? And then the weak as pi*s ref runs over, takes one look and gives the penalty.

It might all seem great for England to have some good luck for a change but VAR will eventually spell the end of football if it is used so unjustly.

But after 52 year of gambling I know that a really outrageous slice of luck either way very often balances itself out very quickly. So, let us not be surprised if luck - and politics within the ruling elite of the game - combone to trun England over in the final....

Studs were lower than knee. So 100% not high. Tackle after the shot.

Maybe officials didn’t see it has they fainted when seeing Kane have a shot on target. Woke up. Presumed there must be an error. There’s no way lane could be in the box and shoot. So just gave a pen.

Southgate. V Swiss we mustn’t make subs cos need kane on for pens.

Souhgate v Holland. Let’s take Kane off at 80 mins. Maybe crappy striker might nick one late on.

First time in 10 years he’s subbed Kane. Then player gets winner.

Just relieved we were on the fortunate of VAR last night.

Premier league had the chance to vote it out a couple of month's ago and copped out.

So no moaning from Managers this season?

I'm with the minority that thought it was a penalty - the way to judge is imagine that tackle happening in a midfield area, and ref gives a free kick (maybe card) every time.

What about the Saka handball in the penalty box, immeadiately before Kane shot - clearly the right call on the whole incident was free kick to Holland, yet Var never even looked at that!

Hate in these situations when people always say something like if that was anywhere else on the pitch the ref would have given a foul. Giving a foul in a non dangerous area like the halfway line and awarding a penalty for a similar incident always have to be two separate things imho.To give a penalty it has to be a 100% foul in the box and that certainly wasn't as if anything Kane kicked Dumfries.

The player was beaten to the ball and left his leg out with studs showing. Had a player gone for the ball, missed it and a running player fallen over the leg it would have been a penalty.
It was a penalty.
