"Surely today everybody has more than 1 bank account" What for? Unless you're married or living in a houseshare with a joint account for bills? I have found one decent bank, I don't need to deal with more than one of them. |

Not with British Gas (thieving b'stards), changing energy 'supplier' makes sense - never seen any point in changing banks - I pay no charges and get excellent service.

when you get to £85,000 you might want to think again

why would you keep that much in cash deposits?
|

As everyone on hear is a winner & must have loads in the bank you do really need to add bank accounts everytime you pass the 85k as mentioned by Mr Poster as this is the limit protected. And be very careful to consider which bank owns any other bank in its group as the protection works on only 1 bank in the group eg HSBC owns First Direct.

Correct and only a fool would think otherwise, the next wave of fraud is going to be the scary one, AI will crack any protection you think you've got in place whether you bet or don't ![]() |

All about the ability of criminals to keep ahead of the security. I had my Email hacked recently and stupid messages sent to people in my contacts. The provider staff started by telling me that they would sort it in a few minutes but they had to freeze my Email account for 4 days while they battled with the hackers who were changing log in details within seconds of them being changed by the security. This proved that it was not my fault but theirs and they grudgingly admitted that they are being severely stretched at the moment as hackers were inside their systems. It was not a virus that I had picked up elsewhere. Regarding banks, it should be harder to hack an account that is only visited every 3 months or so or am I being naive?

Good anti virus keeps you safe unless stupid enough to click the links…..usually the good antivirus will warn you don’t touch it…..

" it should be harder to hack an account that is only visited every 3 months or so or am I being naive" Not sure that makes any difference. Hoping your bank account has some form of 2FA? |

According to the Tories, I'm a member of a suspected extremist organisation, will a customer service droid at an online bookie shop me to MI5 when they see the donations on my bank statements?
