johnny said if found a fifty wins he will do next weeks show in just his undercrakers

A somewhat meteoric rise to the head table of the gravy train for Mr Dineen, seems to be employed as the Posts Shock Jock with wild statements on whether to lay or back one of the front 2 in the market, can't see the point of his column but good luck to him.

Clown, failed bookmaker - Why the Racing Post give him print on a Saturday, just tipping Mullins/Elliot odds on shots god only knows. His latest gem is saying a horse has "a stone in hand " for a Cheltenham handicap??? It's CREBILLY - can't jump, and won a 3 runner race at Exeter last time when the 2nd chucked it in.
By:
I will be putting him under the Spotlight at Cheltenham.

Johnny Dineen replaced Gavin Lynch on the Racing Post's Upping the Ante videos after Lynch decided to try his hand as a commercial tipster. Viewers loved Dineen (even if I could not see it myself) and suddenly he has a Racing Post column and is a guest pundit on, well, everything and was in great demand on the Cheltenham preview circuit.

Hope that isn't ironic and a touch of jealousy he is a breath of fresh air very watchable if you don't like it you have options one being to turn over other don't read it simples at least he gives an opinion seems a very nice bloke to me.
By:
I don’t think it’s jealousy it’s totally OTT. I feel same with other sports too. Gary Neville etc… perhaps though its just what the masses want. Some sort of dumbed down easy listening. I used to like The Couch for this. He was pretty funny guy
By:
not heard much of the couch lately hows he doing ? was entertaining on those previews imo.
By:
Not sure he tipped a single ante-post winner after taking over from Gavin Lynch. Fortunately, Jennings was just as bad.
Instead of being dumped on the basis of results, he has been signed up for everything based on comedic appeal rather than that of a tipster. His impact just confirms the sport is full of dullards who won't say anything that might rock the boat. |

Johnny will be visiting Paddy's Shop on the Cheltenham High St at 4.30.
There to mingle with punters and to cough, sneeze all over the place. If you happen to be in the shop, please hand him a lemsip. |

dave j and johnny d work very well together imo , a good double act !

I did like it last year when JD was on a podcast for chelts and the Starsports rep gave two boosts and Johnny asked if he could avail after the show.
The rep kept going no have the bet now Johnny, how much? "No that's okay I'll speak afterwards" "Go ahead Johnny lemme know how much and I'll see if I can accommodate you" "Okay can I have £30,000/16,000 singles on Mighty Potter and El Fabiolo" The rep nearly puked, lol Decent bets for a "failed bookmaker" imo |
By:
Well if those bets were laid , JD would have blown about £12000.
By:
JD only said those bets as he knew they would never get taken
By:
^^^^you don't know the man
By:
JD ''Found A Fifty won't be winning the My Pension Expert Arkle anyway. Let's get that out of the way first. He's as short as 9-2, but I wouldn't back him at 9-1 or even 90-1. He's not good enough to win a race like this and I don't think he's a strong finisher either. Not a great combination at the festival so he is the one horse on Tuesday who won't be winning''
By:
Can i take 90/1 please?
By:
Well if those bets were laid , JD would have blown about £12000.
You won't get a job as a settler! Kinell |
By:
JD only said those bets as he knew they would never get taken
The kid had to drag it out of Johnny, JD knew he was just a rep and had no clue of his bet size and what he could take. Was trying not to show him up but the kid wouldn't quit. |
By:
The rep was Starsports who brag about taking £250,000 bets in the past so £16k at 15/8 twice is small beer.
By:
Mighty Potter lost £30000 and he had £16000 on El Fab.Where's the error?
By:
£16k at 15/8 on each horse.
Bookie speak is £30k/£16k on each horse. £32k staked returns £46k Profit £14k |
By:
Ah right -misunderstood . Thought he wanted more on Mighty Potter than on El Fab.
By:
No worries Mano, he probably didn't get on anyway

By:
I happen to like him, but I heard him say State Man should 1-4. Not sure that is pro thinking, even if the horse wins by 20L.

i dont think many in ireland would descibe mr dineen as a failed bookmaker. i think that the landscape of the irish betting ring changed around the time of his retirement with the migration of punters from on course to betting shops with their extra offers . many of the big irish oncourse layers either retired , died or went skint around then. a successful oncourse bookie is now one who has most of his turnover back on here to guarantee a profit. .even during his time he was always more of a punter than a traditional layer.what impresses during his appearances is his knowledge of form without resorting to notes.i think his honesty is a breath of fresh air. one of lifes true gentlemen.

I love Pundits with strong opinions.
By:
Doesn't take himself too seriously and comes across like a bloke you'd enjoy going for a pint with, couldn't give a fook how many winners he does or doesn't tip, he's a laugh that will do for me.
