A nice gesture from Foyles. How the forum used to be.
I would enter but I have prints all over the place most still in tubes. |
|
By:
Excellent thread and great gesture. See the interest it has raised.
Wonder if there is a gifted amateur like Waley-Cohen hiding their talents -- I well remember his 33/1 shot a few years back. Hope you have a great week. |

What`s your NAP for the Festival LH?
... hope you are well and winning. |

Foyles is a goodun, known him many many years, so many funny stories about E Coomes shop in Deptford
|
|
By:
Count me in, could you *Star* thread so easy to see please?"
|
|
By:
hi trident yes you will have to tell me how to" star the thread " i am not sure how to do it.
|
|
By:
FOYLES - When you create the new topic for the competition you'll need to enter the code for the star image several times as shown in the photo below. I've started and finished the topic title with two stars. Just type the seven character code and hit the space bar two or three times to leave a gap between the stars when they are eventually displayed in your topic...
![]() When you've finished adding the competition details in the text box and you click on the 'create topic' button it should result in something like this..... ![]() |
|
By:
PS
If you want to test the process out beforehand head over to the Labs Chat forum and create the new topic there. |
|
By:
t2r ... an untrained chimp would know more than i know about computers and codes ,cant see any 7 character codes only the 4 numbers and hastag thing youve typed in !
|
|
By:
guys rather than complicate things how about i just bump the thread to the top every hour or so ,top2rated i know you mean well but trying to educate me with this techy stuff will have ya tearing your hair out and you will be suicidal by the time i eventually get it and the festival will be well over by then !

Morning foyles, good to see this comp is going well
I just had a thought Wouldn't it be ironic if a forum full of "experts" failed to provide 1 winner between them out of dozens of entries? Or worse still, if someone like Gaze won it? We'd never hear the last |
|
By:
morning reg yes its getting a bit of interest , yes i was thinking the same it is possible that no one picks a winner but highly unlikely ,was a spur of the moment thing about starting a comp i was thinking about those prints and thinking shall i take em to an auction or something but realistically i know they will sit in the cupboard for years till . ive got stuff thats prob worth a good few quid thats sat around for years decades even ,every now and then ill open a box or something thats been tucked away and think fook forgot all about that . as said i go to loads of carboots in the warmer months and its like a treasure hunt ,you never know what will turn up. rambling on again ...anyway back to the comp ,yeah thought id keep it really simple 1 selection biggest price winner at festival 1 go per poster, that way its easier to keep on top of it but it does set a challenge to entrants .........shall i go for a real biggie or try an 8-10/1 chance in the hope that most try for the rags and blow out .......as said it could be won with 33/1 shot or just as likely an 8/1 shot .
as it seems to be popular i might do a similar one for royal ascot as i have more than enough of these prints and likely i wont get off my arshe and do something with them.....good luck reg in the comp, health punting and life ...........same to all of us. |

Nice one Foyles, I will stick one up nearer the time, too many Trainers faffing about with multiple entries etc.

hey guys was just thinking maybe i need to adjust the entry time to the start of the supreme on the 1st day as" unscrupoulous characters " now i know most of you are stoute fellows who play with a straight bat but as in everywhere in life there will be a few dishonest bounders lurking in the shadows hoping to take advantage . realistically the dishonest fellow could wait till most of the selections have blown out and by the time of the last few races he will know results and where he and others stand and could sneak in through the back door so to speak with a crafty advantage, ,the lower classes often pop up in unexpected places...............so the cut off time will have to be before 1.30 tuesday the start of the supreme good luck chaps in all your punting!
