Everyone should be interested in what's happening in Palestine? They are human-beings too regardless of geography, creed, political persuasion, etc. What the Israeli Army and Mr Netanyahu are doing is genocide.

Rochdale is dominated by the Asian esp Pakistani community. As such, a Muslim representative is most likely these days; The Asian former Labour candidate was "pariah" by his forme Party. Mr Galloway knows how to play the policial game; he's form.

I think the results in Rochdale could give Sir Starmer a huge headache if the indiscriminate killings in Gaza continues or a ceasefire still not achieved come the next General Election. If so, the voters will be unlikely to vote Labour esp if a Muslim candidate is selected again post the sexual crimes in the area; the white locals could ditch Labour, and vote strategically again.

But, it was good the former Labour candidate was comprehensively ditched and beaten.

How are you defining 'a proper candidate' ?
Report dustybin March 1, 2024 12:48 PM GMT
That’s the ‘new’ meaning of genocide ofc, to go with the new meaning of racism and the new meaning of Islamophobia
All altered to fit a narrative to embolden just one set of beliefs.

It’s perhaps a good thing that the foreign policy desires of this Worker’s Party are separated from Labour.
Islam should have its own home in politics so that the major parties don’t attempt to appease them by creating mad laws that impact the majority

Being interested is ever so slightly  different to determining the actual result of elections of representatives to UK parliament. People who think that is the most pressing pollical issue for them, by definition care about what happens in foreign countries more than what happens on their own doorstep. Now why might that be ?

Some of them crave the block vote evidenced in this result. That, and we now live in this modern dystopia where what people say is far more important than what they actually do. At least, they think it is. The virtue signalling era.

Mr Cider- I'm really not going to get involved other than to point out with regard to the following:
"Everyone should be interested in what's happening in Palestine? They are human-beings too regardless of geography, creed, political persuasion, etc. What the Israeli Army and Mr Netanyahu are doing is genocide."

Should not "Everyone" be interested in what China is doing to the Uyghurs? Or what the Arab Muslims are doing to the African Muslims on the African continent? What about what's going on in Venezuela? The question is why is Israel held in isolation as a special case. Deep down we all know the answer. It's not more of a pity that I looked at the thread having seen the title than the thread should appear on a racing forum at all. I've left the politics forum for good. I really do hope that my enjoyment of the other forums will not have to cease too. There will be no further comment by me on this subject on this forum.

The UK is becoming more and more like Ukraine with each passing day.

Politics of Ukraine
In the years after Ukrainian independence, election fraud was widespread, mainly through the use of "administrative resources".[50] On the other hand, according to Taras Kuzio, election fraud in Ukraine could only reach five percent of the total vote.[51] Following the initial rounds of voting in the 2004 presidential election, the Supreme Court of Ukraine ruled that due to the scale of the electoral fraud, it was impossible to establish the election results and ordered a revote.[52] Afterwards outright vote rigging diminished,[53] although politicians still claimed election fraud, and administrative tricks to get more votes for a particular party had not vanished.[54] The Ukrainian electorate remained highly skeptical about the honesty of the election process.[55] Any voter who engages in election fraud faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail[citation needed], though activists say no one has been punished for voter fraud since Ukrainian independence.[56]

In the 2000s United States diplomats claimed the privatization of several Ukrainian state enterprises was **** in favor of political friends.[7] On a regional level, corruption was discovered in connection with land allocation.[57]

Around 2010 Ukrainian politicians regularly accused each other of corruption while claiming to fight it themselves.[58] After going undercover in the Reforms for the Future parliamentary faction in early 2012, Roman Zabzaliuk claimed this faction "bought" its members for "US$500,000 (for a 'defection' from other parliamentary groups), and then they pay a monthly salary of $20,000-25,000"; in contrast, according to Reforms for the Future, Zabzalyuk had pretended he was "suffering a very serious disease" and the group had managed to raise some $100,000 for Zabzalyuk to undergo surgery in Israel.[59]

Since 2011, the President, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Prime Minister, Prosecutor General, ministers and other Ukrainian top officials have been liable for prosecution for corruption.[60] Since 2010 the Ukrainian press brought up thousands of examples of criminal cases in which state officials, as well as politicians and businessmen linked to the then ruling Party of Regions, were shown leniency unprecedented for the general population of suspects.[61]

Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaliy Zakharchenko stated in 2012 that since 2010 about 400 politicians had faced criminal charges in connection with corruption; most of them from the Party of Regions, followed by Bloc Yulia Tymoshenko and Our Ukraine–People's Self-Defense Bloc members.[62]

In the early 2010s Ukrainian media, particularly the Ukrayinska Pravda, regularly unveiled millionaire lifestyles of Ukrainian politicians and public servants,[63] utterly at odds with their declared official incomes.[64]

According to historian Andrew Wilson, as of 2016 progress in reducing corruption was poor.[65] A 2015 survey showed that 72% of adults blamed "corruption of power" for the lack of progress in reform.[65]

A 2016 requirement for MPs to declare their wealth led to a declared cumulative wealth of about $460 million for the 413 MPs.[66] Reacting to public criticism, MPs cancelled a salary rise that would have doubled their monthly salary.[67] This measure was part of an Anti-Corruption Package passed into law in 2014, which was a requirement of international financial support for Ukraine and a prerequisite to eligibility for visa-free travel within the European Union.[66][68]

“He also knew full well the impact these racially inflammatory stickers were having, and by attempting to remain anonymous, sought to protect himself and others from investigation. He was very deliberate in the manner he wanted to spread his messages of racial hatred, and online messages recovered made it clear that he knew these stickers were being displayed in public and causing damage to public property.

“It is illegal to publish such material intending to stir up racial hatred towards others, and the CPS will not hesitate to bring prosecutions against those who break the law in this way.”

an extremely rare public comment on a case from the cps. i wonder why that is.

Examples of the most “extreme” stickers identified by police included “Second-generation? Third? Fourth? You have to go back”, “Mass immigration is white genocide”, “They seek conquest not asylum” and “There is a war on whites”.

evidently some of these are unpleasant phrases to put on stickers, terrorism they are not. Nick.
