did they say weight or is it his kit not being the same as weighed out?
Report the dealer February 21, 2024 5:47 PM GMT
More likely the trainer to blame rather than the jockey, maybe missed something off when saddling.
Report elise February 21, 2024 5:48 PM GMT
yes poss, but have seen it where they remove say the body protector so it's not the saddle
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk February 21, 2024 5:49 PM GMT
Racing UK far king useless. Keep saying problem with clerk of scales, not even clarifying if it was a weight issue.
Saying if you backed odds on winner you were very lucky?!
Not if the fptp weighed in 10lbs light he wasn't.

37G Bet Victor INH Flat Race
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the fact that Mr Finn Tegetmeier, rider of Colcannon, placed first, trained by N. Meade, weighed in 1.3lbs light following this race. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr. Tegetmeier stated that following weighing out he walked the track and went to the toilet. Mr. Meade stated that everything he received from the rider went on the horse and he couldn't account for the missing weight. Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards disqualified Colcannon from first place in accordance with the provisions of Rule 231 (i) and took no further action.

Checked their terms but they dont pay double result if f there is an objection by the Clerk of the Scales or if an incorrect number is transmitted in error, are excluded from this offer.

I always thought there was a pound or two leeway? I know they weren’t the usual conditions today, but they say a jockey can lose a pound on a hot day during a race.

if the bookies paid out for weighing in light there would be weight cloths flying off all over the place, especially from the gambles ... Scared

No it isnt.
Callum Shepperd ( i think )  was done for a place for weighing in 1.5 lbs light a while back

Report sparrow February 21, 2024 8:17 PM GMT
If a jockey weighs in with an incorrect weight, the clerk of the scales will lodge an objection, and a stewards’ enquiry will follow.

The exact process and ruling will then depend upon whether the jockey in question weighed in with too little or too much weight.

Weighed In Under Weight
Should the jockey weigh in more than a pound below the allocated weight, the horse will be disqualified, and the rider will be penalised – usually in the form of a ban for a specified number of days or a fine.

If it is the rider of the winning horse who weighs in light, the horse which finished second will be awarded the race and paid out as the winner.

In any event, all runners who finish behind a disqualified runner will have their finishing position upgraded by one – potentially affecting the each way positions and pay-outs. Note that the one-pound variance is permitted to account for any weight the rider may lose due to their exertions during the race.

how long before the race can they weight out like?

walking round a racecourse in cold weather wont shed any weight..maybe an ounce..to lose 1lb 5oz means he would have to pi$$ a pint ...impossible.
Report tantpis February 21, 2024 10:36 PM GMT
Had a crap
Report hulk23 February 21, 2024 10:47 PM GMT
that's why you weigh out, walk straight to the parade ring, meet connections then get on your horse.

you don't weigh out, go down Wetherspoons for a few shandies, have a dump and then head back to the track in time to ride your horse.

todays disqualification
Stephen Porter

irishracing2.com@gmail.com

Hi
Regarding todays disqualification 16:55 punchestown, 21 feb ive been reading the report from this on irishracing.com which states..

Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Mr. Tegetmeier stated that following weighing out he walked the track and went to the toilet.

Could i ask what the rules are in Ireland, how long before a race can a jockey weigh out? Seen crazy that a jockey can weigh out then have time to walk the track.

regards

Stephen Porter

What happens to the saddle while the jockey is walking the track? What's to stop anyone slipping in some extra weight or taking some out?
