Has anyone ever noticed who plays the part of the T i tb i ts salesman, who, right at the end of the film, approaches the freed serial murderer -played so well by Dennis Price - for his story, as he is being released from the jail?
A very young Arthur Lowe. |

Glad someone mentioned Witness for the prosecution, 1957 i think but only saw it for first time a couple of weeks ago, terrific storyline with lots of twists and turns, well worth a watch with Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton as the defense barrister, brilliant.

Sparrows can't sing and The Rainbow Jacket, a great racing film. All the regulars in both of them. |

Good lists. The ones made way after the advent of colour are interesting; One not mentioned is The Last Picture Show. Not many films win both best supporting role Oscars.

Stalag 17
There’s a scene in it where William Holden organises a rat derby in the barracks and they’re all named after top classes pre world war 2 horses. Historically accurate to say the least. |

Another classic Film Noir that rarely gets a screening these days, but definitely worth a look.
"The Mask of Dimitrios" (1944) starring Peter Lorre, Sydney Greenstreet and Zachary Scott. From the novel by Eric Ambler. I would suggest that the creators of "The Usual Suspects" would have been well aware of this movie, involving as it does the criminal exploits and influence of the shadowy Dimitrios across a continent over a 20 years period or so. |

I’m also praying they don’t decide to remake the Arsenal Stadium Murder Mystery for “modern audiences” and to “reflect the new world we live in”.

The original Champ was a much grittier film than the remake, very good.
