Can't see it being quicker enough for the Supreme personally, would be amazed if Mullins doesn't have something to beat it.
Last year the second coming won the same race

yeah I agree. It was the horse I was impressed with rather than race target. But stayers can go well in the supreme although it would help if the race was on new course like the Triumph.

I do not see Jeriko as a Supreme horse. It's either The Neptune or Albert Bartlett. Personally, he's definitely not as impressive or slick as Willmount, his stablemate; 9 here is preposterous imo.

LOL Howard, Quixall Crossett could have been trained by Nichols but it would still be Quixall so basing a horses ability on a trainers name is hardly scientific!! HTH

I never get "but it only beat trees" bit, it was visually impressive and should improve again, the fact it only beat 2 Chris Gordon horses imho will have no bearing how far it can progress.

Anymore from Hendo in the near future? Jeriko is definitely not for me in The Supreme 2024. I may contemplate a bet for him in The Neptune or Albert Bartlett.

I say most pro gamblers would be able to watch an unraced horse be ridden alone round the track and be able to put a rough ( h'cap ) mark on it. After all people pay massive money for breeze ups what have they beat ?

Most trainers have an idea believe it or not Howard, so if Nicky has another 10 as good in his opinion are they all potential graded winners in his mind iyo?

You can definitely infer a horse's ability against poor oppo 1st time up. My fav one was Sir Percy winning 1st time out at Goodwood. Was a g1 horse right there and than. Baeed another obvious one.

There were probably a few last year who had a similar opinion on Jet Powered in the same race, also trained by Nicky and learned it pays to be cautious?

yeah cider. Ist run terrible conditions but after his 2nd run I said to myself that's one of the best horses I've ever seen. Didn't care what he beat ( Frankel )

My own personal opinion is that Jeriko didn't especially stand out there, tho Nico obviously tried to make it look as comfortable as possible. Was exactly Constitution Hill like first time up.
The trainer does make a difference as the top ones usually know what they have got. Hendo has had enough of them.

I believe Hendo hinted The Tolworth for Willmount but, the venue and/or date has changed; I believe it's at Aintree of Boxing Date. And, Nico cannot be at Kempton (Shishkin/King George) and Aintree (Willmouth). Hence, he'd be looking for a race in January.

Nicky mentioned the Boxing Day race at Kempton as the likely target. What he beat today were 105 rated at best so it taught us absolutely nothing about his ability although he did nothing wrong.

If you're a backer you don't want "us" ( everybody ) taught about horses though. I know you look at things like an historian. But for backers if a horse beats good horses /has good form and /or records a very good timefigure you really do struggle for a value bet.

Btw Jet Powered who won the same race last year runs at 1340 hrs today, the caution I advised re the hype punters are giving yesterdays winner was that he was beaten at 2/7 next time out. Not only that but backing yesterdays winner for a race he may not even run in at even the 12s before the race was an example of punters being sucked into hype over substance.

you are "Against the crowd " as Alan Potts would say. Other pro backers have said form and information are punters great false gods. Phil Bull himself said many of his very best bets were on horses that ran a stinker LTO.

They don't always do it on the track do they, but Constitution Hill had a monster rep before he ran for example. It's not my MO, but people who bet AP on reputation and rumour coming out of high profile yards before running on a track will have winners and losers, like anything else. At least at double figures you don't have to get it right very often to win overall.

Absolutely nothing that came out of Seven Barrows could have prompted the shortening before yesterdays race, certainly nothing Henderson had said so anyone who did back the horse did so blind or sucked in by the layers? Even post race their shortening had no substance in terms of the Supreme, tbh I would much rather have £600 @ 2s on the day than a £100 ap @ 12s in December.

I was there that day Cider and he caught my eye too.
Got 33's for the 2000 and put him in a few good sized doubles for next season , one with Brave Inca for the CH - think 6/1 him
Went to Newmarket hoping George Washington would misbehave but it wasn't to be ..
Still made a good few bob
My first aftertime for many a year... apologies but it brought back good memories

Good call Howard pretty impressive , good comment from wondersobright also by emphasising the caution of it being English trained for ante post punters.
