Newbury is fit for racing for its seven-race card on Friday, which is set to begin at 12.10. The opening day of the meeting is headlined by the Grade 2 Coral Long Distance Hurdle (3.00) and features Marie's Rock and the popular veteran Paisley Park.
Saturday's meeting, featuring the Coral Gold Cup, looks in more doubt, with overnight temperatures threatening to reach as low as -5C and an inspection on the morning of racing has been called for 7.30am.
Speaking at 7.45am on Friday, clerk of the course George Hill said: "The only more positive thing we can say is we didn't get as cold as we thought we did for today's meeting, and we might get that luck again. However, it's going to be colder overnight.
"No time is a good time for inspections, but there's not much earlier or later than when we can look at it tomorrow. If I'm happy to go at 6am again like this morning then we will. The covers will be down immediately after racing and then we hope it can go in our favour.
"The forecast this morning for today's racing is still cloudy and there's not a lot of sun around at the moment. The track is still under the covers, but I imagine it'll ride as we expect it to."
Hill said on Thursday he had not been involved in any possible contingency plans at this stage, while the BHA had nothing further to add at this point.
Fairyhouse's opening day of its two-day winter meeting must pass a 7.30am inspection on raceday morning, with temperatures due to dip below freezing on Friday night.
Clerk of the course Brendan Sheridan said: "The going is soft, and there's a slight grass frost and plenty of moisture in the ground, but the temperature is forecast to get down to -3C tonight, and not much higher than 2C tomorrow. We'll monitor the situation going forward and see where we're at tomorrow morning."
Both Doncaster and Musselburgh's meetings today have been cancelled due to frozen tracks.
Elsewhere, Leicester's Sunday card must pass an inspection at 11.30am on Saturday. Carlisle's fixture on the same day is also subject to a midday inspection on Saturday.

as already stated, they offered the flat boys an extra shift on sunday and were told no thanks, we've all got enough money and we're actually quite enjoying our holidays.

I believe all jockeys, trainers and stable staff were asked for feedback regarding an all weather fixture on both Saturday and Sunday. So I'm assuming the flat brigade unanimously said no

Well some stable staff would have to work and I find it strange that not one jockey wanted a few days work at least. Maybe those jockeys at the bottom end earn much more than I thought.
