Having another bet with my old bokie mate who I met first day at work, his Dad was the main bookie in Fords Halewood when 12,000 men worked there and he later followed suit.
We are going with our families to Royal Ascot and I have to achieve 50pts level stakes profit to £20 a bet by then, he is giving me BOG and I have a £2000 bank. Billy my Dad lost both of his legs but was only in early 60s so still had a bit of strength. He was able to get himself on and off the commode/chemical toilet and when he wasn't well enough i helped him on/off, he slept downstairs and we had a pulley system installed to help him in/out of bed. My mum had died in her early 40s so there was just me at home in my early 20s but we managed.
Had a home help in to shop/cook him dinner when i was at work so managed to keep him at home until he died at 63. May be more difficult if he's just at home with your mum presuming he's a lot older, not to sure how easy it is to get a home help these days but i'd expect he'd want to stay in his home if he can, best wishes. |

Thanks sr, they are both nearly 90. He lost his leg through an Aneurysm nine years ago. He is asking to go on the commode every 20-30 minutes now. While I was up there yesterday he went on it nine times, when he came out of hospital just after Christmas last year my Mum was advised to put him in a care home then.
My Mum uses a device that he holds, pulls himself up and it turns him onto the commode or his chair, I can really see them falling or my Dad letting go when they are both tired. He is quite demanding and my Mum is worn out, she still drives and has more energy than most people and decorated one of the bedrooms including wallpapering when I was on holiday. He had carers four times a day but my Mum has knocked it down to only once at 6 o'clock for different reasons, even when they come then, my Mum has him ready for bed. They were using her toilet and she is very funny that way, he is very hard work and been spoiled all his life and wants everything done there and then and wants to be the centre of attention. The bigger picture is that he needs 24hr care now, they are up at 4am and it's a long day for both of them. He doesn't have dementia, he is just old and demanding, he passed the so-called dementia test recently and is still relatively all there and wins the family quiz most Sundays, comes to us all.. |

The Tom McCourt-trained bay was successful off a mark of 72 over this trip about a year ago and after dropping back down to a good mark this autumn and gained his latest win over the minimum trip when beating Eglish by a length. I think he is even better over this 6f and Lucky 7 could be on the cards.
