A Coral customer is celebrating a life-changing windfall after he landed an incredible 30-match sports bet last week which turned his £5 stake into almost half a million pounds.
The Rotherham man, who wishes to remain anonymous, placed the 30-leg acca on a self-service betting terminal in a Coral shop in the South Yorkshire town, and scooped £486,000 when all the selections in his accumulator won, at combined odds of over 97,000/1. “The bet ran over several days and included specific outcomes in five tennis matches and 25 football matches – from Israel v Belarus to Scotland v England, and concluded with Sporting Lisbon v Moreirense on Sunday night. He needed Sporting Lisbon to win with 1 to 5 goals in the game, and Sporting won 3-0,” said Coral’s David Stevens. “After 28 legs, he was offered a cash-out option of £222,000, which he – wisely as it turned out – said no to, and was ultimately rewarded with all 30 legs winning, at odds of over 97,000/1. “It’s fair to say shock was his first reaction to realising all 30 legs had won, but unsurprisingly he was soon celebrating what he has said is a life-changing amount. “In over two decades at Coral, I’ve never seen such an incredible winning bet. To get four or five predictions right is hard enough, to get 30 is extraordinary, and this punter deserves every penny of his £486,000.” |

He knew the 1st 28 legs had won, refused the cashout.
Shocked when he realised all 30 had won.Just another 2 legs.Couldn't have been watching then. |

Exactly Penzance! He obviously had no interest in the last 2 legs. Instead he was doing his ironing or watching Antiques Roadshow. Only briefly turning his attention away from said 2 tasks to check the result of the Sporting Lisbon game. And once the result was known, he turned to his wife and said "I'm shocked I tell you, shocked!" before turning his attention back to the Antiques Roadshow.

He did very well to refuse the cash out

Got lucky. Would you put £222,000 from your own bank on a short priced double, absolutely not.
|
|
By:
Nobody on here would ever be in that position in the first place never mind "short priced doubles" to argue about.

If the last leg had went down? I would just say to myself "it was only fiver"

On punters who cash out. Are we accountants or gamblers?
In the words of Jay Trotter....let it ride! ![]() |
|
By:
I know at least one person on this thread who could.
Not arguing anyway. My position on any exotic bet is, would you put that amount on if you had it in your hand. The vast majority would not. I learned that lesson very early on when I was still not officially old enough to bet. Had a £5 treble with Oh So Risky leading at the last hurdle on the last leg, and he got beat ![]() |
|
By:
Yeah plenty on here doing 30 leg bets.

another 'anonymous' punter lands an incredible acca just another imaginary win announced by a bookmaker to get some new customers sucked in to impossible acca bets |

"just another imaginary win announced by a bookmaker to get some new customers sucked in to impossible acca bets"
There are hundreds of thousands of people doing these bets every day; it stands to reason some of them occasionally come off to provide bookie PR fodder? "have you noticed nearly all these massive acca winners are all 'anonymous' yet lottery winners cant wait to be in the limelight" Does seem strange - inviting begging letters and the like. (BF's US arm FanDuel all over the online betting press today for paying out a total of $20m on a promoted boosted acca on field goals - whatever they are - on US Football) |

I take it your details have to be given on the terminals?
If not how did they get in touch to offer the cashout?. |

The terminals offer cash outs, Penzance. You scan your ticket after a winning leg and a cash out offer appears.

Replies: 1109722 Sep 23 18:10 course he did. another 'anonymous' punter lands an incredible acca just another imaginary win announced by a bookmaker to get some new customers sucked in to impossible acca bets quite so. the top jollies at koral got together and came up with something to get them into the limelight. this time they decided to stretch credulity by making it a 30 leg acca. all were sworn to secrecy because exposure would lead to their dismissal and humiliate the company and destroy whatever credibilty it had yes, that sounds about it. but they reckoned without this forum genius |
