Had a few drinks with Shane MacGowan about 10 or so years ago. Lovely  chap, when I could understand him. Also often shared a drink with the late, great John Martyn, who lived close to me in his later years. Another sound man, even though his manner could be a bit abrupt at times.

I also happened to share an elevator with Damon Hill in Marbella about 20 years ago. However, as I have zero interest in F1, I hadn't a clue who he was until after he had alighted from said elevator. It was then that my cousin informed me who he was. Seemed a nice man.

I used to know Steve Hodge quite well. Smashing bloke. Even got his and hers dressing gowns from him and his missus when I got married!

If we do a ‘who’s the most famous person you’ve shagged’ thread then Glentoby will win hands down!

Met a few at Yorkshire TV in Leeds. My wife and I had a long chat with Michael Aspel about non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. On another occasion was in the bar there when Dennis Waterman had the contents of an ice bucket tipped on him by the barmaid.

Banksy - didn't know it was him at the time (15 years ago in brizzle, suspected it was him) but told it was him a few days later.

Spyker, my sister in law is Bristolian, has lived in Greenbank area 30 years plus
Banksy came from that area
She bought 3 x Banksy prints circa mid 90s,one for each of her kids
Paid about 750 quid for them in total , was taking a chance then on unknown artist
The transaction took place at the local bicycle sales/repair shop!
He didn't have enough money for his bike but was offering the owner the deal
He declined, but she stepped in

One of them sold about 5 years ago for about 30 grand, the other 2 kids not sold theirs yet

Princess Di when she came past our primary school. She said to the teacher "Are you in charge of this lot?" which I thought was a bit off.

Loved the story on here a whiles back from someone who struck up a regular acquaintance with his hero Ray Davies in the pub, talking about football.
I once met Mariella Frostrup, in her early thirties and what a babe.  I laid it on thick and she loved it, knowing full well our lives would part forever within five minutes.  A smile to warm the cockles of any heart and then, a pert little pair above a smart, athletic looking, beautifully formed a rse and pins.  And a backward glance,.......Laugh

40 odd years ago Simon Le Bon, crashed his boat and it was hauled in to the town where I live, I was about 15 years old and saw him in the street one evening with his Mrs. I quickly ran into the British Legion where y pap was drinking and picked up a betting slip from behind the bar which the locals used to write their bets out on each day before the local bookies runner would come and pick them up each lunchtime.

Anyway I digress, I quickly ran out and asked him for his autograph, he duly obliged and I then told him that his hair, that he'd just changed  looked better the way it used to, he looked down and said "Did it"Tongue Out
