Kevin Sinfield carries Rob Burrow over Leeds marathon finish

Well done Kev- a true gentHappy

Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield stopped short of the finish at the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to carry his friend over the line.

The event named after former Leeds Rhinos star Burrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019, saw more than 12,000 people take part.

It was inspired by Sinfield, who pushed his former team-mate around the course in a specially-adapted wheelchair.

He then lifted Burrow up and carried him, to the delight of spectators

Kevin has raised a tremendous amount of money since his good friend Rob Burrow was diagnosed with this awful illness. I must admit I got very emotional and realised I am very fortunate and have no real worries in this world. Respect to both Rob and Kevin.....incredible human beingsSad

Likewise, it was a very moving and emotional moment.
Makes you realise what's really important in life.

Puts the petty bickering on here into perspective.

Nicky Campbell's phone-in 10am-11 is talking about MND at the moment.

Seems both Rugby codes put the prima donna football players to shame when it comes down to looking after their own, humbling event and a reminder of the disease which also took the life of Doddie Weir.

The first time I remember being aware of the disease was the death of David Niven,a truly horrendous condition. Not many will have heard of George Crawford,he was an RAF Police nco and an avid rugby player and charity fund raiser including MND.Sadly he was killed in 1985 having volunteered to be the Police escort on the RAF band coach which crashed in Germany in 1985,a last minute decision.

I sponsored a friend in the run, she's buggered today. A worthy cause, it's not too late.
