John Spearing RIP

82,probably just old age.

There was piece in the RP about him retiring from training the other day, and it sounded ominous when they reported that he'd been moved into a nursing home.

He had a bad accident a couple of years back or so when schooling a 2YO in the starting stalls, which had left him in a bad way.

RIP John

I Will never forget the likes of his horses = ON EDGE and Rapid Lad  - Lucedeo, too - Won the Gosforth Park Cup.

OP - Insensitive and inappropriate.

I think the dreaded got him in the end

RIP John, very sad to hear, a proper old school trainer who always ran his horses on their merits, DG opening comment very insensitive.

Onlooker i went to Sandown in 91 with a mate Lucedao finished 2nd in a claimer and my mate wanted to claim and asked me to go halfs but i talked him out of it which was a big mistake RIP John.

Never shied away from a Spearing horse for my Placepot. Odd thing was they were either 5f sprinters or 3m+ chasers. He had a talent for both.

Will be sadly missed.
