DUTCH KINGDOM in the 5-30 Kempton has ran three times, he went close over 7f twice and then over a mile he was pushed along and lost ground over 1f out, edged right and lost second inside the final furlong with soon no extra and getting beat nearly 4L.
Darryll Holland has sent him out again over a mile tonight, his Dam Kiyra Wells ran 10 times winning once again over 7f and she really struggled over a mile. His Sire Iffraaj has a much better record winning 7 from 10 with six successes over the distance of 7f and the other at 6f. He never ran over a mile.
I am not saying DUTCH KINGDOM can't win over a mile tonight and his trainer knows him well and knows more than I'll ever know about horse racing but as I say I find it all very interesting..

Probably wants him down the handicap a few pounds. Easier to get him beat if running over the wrong distance.

Thanks sr, he will probably win doing handstands. Either that or he fly in over 7f at 12/1 in a few months 4lbs less or so. See the trainer owned him until last week and the current owners Harraton Court Stables Ltd had him before that. LOVE IT..

Can anybody recommend a good book on breeding, does the stamina as a rule come from the Dam and speed from the Sire.

Trainers make bigger fools of us. A large percentage of runners every day are only there to get a drop down the handicap.

This horse is by ffraaj who's average winning distance of his progeny is 8.3f The dam is by Sadlers Wells.

Look at another horse he trains Fantasy Master. When he got him from Mick Appleby he was rated 77. He got him down to 72 and won at 20/1.

Another interesting thing in the 6-00 Kempton, STARLIGHT NATION was only a neck behind Naaser here six weeks ago and now gets a 7lb pull with that rival, NAASER is 10/11f while the former is 7/1. You know what I said the other day, If a horse beats another, it normally beats it again even when it is worse off at the weights. Came true the other day to my reward but I know it doesn't always happen. |

Sorry 11kv, I had put my old trusty hp away and was watching tele.
Clive Cox's 3yr old filly Olympic Quest looks a good bet at 10/1 dropping down to 7f for the first time on her sixth run, she has ran really well on her two handicap runs and just been found out over a mile with last time leading until ridden over 1f out and then being headed inside the final 110yds. Her Dam Olympic Runner ran eight times winning twice over 5f with her Dam's Sire The top class Exceed and Excel winning seven from 12 in Group races in Australia over 6f six times and 7f once. Even the highly regarded EAE couldn't find success over a mile and was beaten over 4L albeit in a Caulfield Group 1. My fancy Olympic Quest's Sire Australia won five times from eight races from 7f to 1m4f including a Group 3 when a 2yr old and was outstanding at 3yrs with successes in The Derby and Irish Derby and was also the son of Ouija Board.
