Been out all day at Martin Meer Nature Reserve, I didn't know there were so many fabulous birds, isn't nature Wonderful..

Going to take a chance with TOO MUCH to turn the tables on the Hot favourite Mountain Song who beat my fancy in January when they were 2nd and 3rd over a near 1m2f. While TOO MUCH travelled strongly leading over 1f out and winning comfortably over CD next time out 26 days ago, while I am hoping this drop in trip won't suit MS as much.

You're definitely a ladies' man Billy, well done again

Could be a Good System, just back horses with Lady in their name, some are Bizarre and just Too Much so you never know..

I said something last week about when a horse beats another and when they meet again on revised terms the horse who won seems to my mind to win again. It worked in my favour last week twice and today both horses came out best again.
I am going to make it a rule going forward..

With being an ex-joiner I am nailing my colours to the mast with The 5yr old NAIL GUNNER who has won three times here at Wolverhampton over 6f but has ran really well when upped to today's 7f since the start of this year. He was beaten only a length and then a neck in January and then pulled off a career best when just denied by a short head 33 days ago off a mark of 66.

I have had a bit of luck lately with young in-experienced lady jockeys and I'm hoping Ivan Furtado's apprentice Elle-May Croot can follow the trend and do the trick with her 7lb allowance being the final piece of the jigsaw.


CEDAR CAGE has been successful over 7f on the old Southwell fibresand and then 6 days ago at 1m 6f here at Wolverhampton. Un-penalised for that cosy win and George Eddery takes the ride again reverting back to 1m4f still claiming his 7lb allowance.

Mixed it in much better company when with Sir Mark Prescott and with doubts about this class 5 for main rival Johnny Boom who is still 7lbs above his last win.


ENGLISH SPIRIT seemed to love the step up in trip to 1m 1 1/2f when successful over CD 19 days ago and gets into this same grade race and is another who had a career best LTO.

Not the greatest of clues but Joshua Bryan looked to have the choice of my fancy and market rival Snooze Lane and I'm hoping he can ride them all to sleep.

Going to also back SEVEN POCKETS who is also a CD winner and might have a bit of class beyond this level

8yr old gelding and the choice of Hollie Doyle who is a winner of six races from 1m 4f to 2m including here in January on last win in an apprentice race off a mark of 60. Back to form last week when beaten by Cedar Cage when second of 8 at 7-2 and considering he won off 77 over this distance of 1m6f in December 21 he could be another winner for the in-form David Evans..

I know there is a mover in the betting but I had SR as a 11/8-6/4 shot so I must back The Andrea Atzeni choice now that the 11/4 is available. Charlie Johnston has made a flying start and if the 3yr old is true to his name it could be another winner for the new trainer after finding trouble in running 34 days ago.

I didn't see the race today, I have been up all day to watch the racing with my Dad but was on my way home because his carers had come and he had put Perry Como and Doris Day on youtube because his last race had run. Before the carers he was going to bed at 3-30 when the racing used to finish early.
He is 88 and has had a bet every day since he was 14, he now backs 12 horses in three lucky 15's but only for 10p, £4.50 a day.
I don't put the bet on  but give his betting bank back to my Mum, they have saved £600 in the past few years and my Dad doesn't know.

Musselburgh 1-50 Lion Of War 7/2  BOG


The in-form team of Oisin Murphy and Charlie Johnson have LION OF WAR in the opener who has been successful twice over 7f on GF ground and on Newcastle's AW winning by 10L. Returns after 168 days but won on debut last season and wasn't too far behind in a Haydock listed event in September.

The winner in September was Naval Power who won a Meydan 75k listed race in January and if there is any doubt about the return to a mile there is a good connection with todays jockey who won plenty on the colts Sire Roaring Lion over a mile and 1m2f with his Dam also winning at 1m2f

Brilliant story about yer dad, Billy!

Thanks rb, he does mostly favourites and 2nd favs and even if they all won it is usually only about £30 - £60. Had a funny moment a few months back, his first three all won at 3/1, 4/1 and 11/2 and I phoned up as his last went off.
His carers where there and they were seeing to him as he was sitting on his commode and they were all cheering his last 4/1 favourite as it took it up only to get beat in a photo. Should of been me in his place if it had won..

I used to have a bit of luck with these a few years ago. A horse making it's debut handicap Chasing after only running in maiden and novice hurdles previous..

The 3yr old maiden NA SCOITEAR which means Don't Overtake in Gaelic is well worth a try over this mile having not the speed over 7f but keeping on well in the closing stages at Newcastle 26 days ago only beaten a length. The Phillip Makin trained gelding was 6/4f that day and stepping into a maiden handicap from the same mark and as they say " Hasn't got much to beat..

Thanks G.B   mh  Been up to my Dad's, he's done five 10p Lucky 15's. Keeps him happy and gives me Mum some peace for a few hours, He just forgets how to change back to his Dodgy Stick sometimes when he put's Nat King Cole on when he has five minutes between races, has me Mum up the wall..


Kempton 5-15 Excel Power  15/2  BOG

Archie Watson runs two in this Class 2 0-105 and my fancy is the Luke Morris ridden EXCEL POWER who has the decent record of  eight wins from 22 runs from 6f to 1m including five wins on the AW and three Class 2 handicaps with one at Haydock on GF.
Still has loads of improvement left in his 5yr old legs and with the last success quite comfortable by over 2L off a mark of 97, today's rating of 103 should hold no fears and also won first time out last April and looks to be best on turning tracks after not taking to Newcastle's straight course at the start of the year.

Horse wouldn't enter stalls and me Dad had five winners, one on each bet. It's like throwing a fiver out of the bedroom window most days. I can see how bookies make a fortune but in life you have to some enjoyment, there are no pockets in shrouds.

The 5yr old ROCKY DREAMS is owned and trained by James McAuley and is a winner of seven races from 29 runs all on the AW from 6f to 7f. He won a claimer here 11 days ago the same race he won the year before and is on the same mark now as his only handicap victory over today's 6f last September.

That win last April brought up a double of claiming successes but the treble was thwarted by probably the rating of 78 and on this lower mark of 74 Billy Lee should hopefully hold him up in midfield and then keep on strongly to lead towards finish..

Something tells me that the 3yr old gelding STARLIGHT NATION who is owed by Cilla Black will relish this step up to a mile, Dam won over a mile and 1m2f and it's jockey John Fahy's only ride..

Starlight Nation ran well picking up past beaten horses and looked like he was going to do the Biz only to be eased when chance had gone.

Need to stop doing these tough races though, no more 4/1 The Field races. That's Another Rule in my head, even a month ago I would of done Four Today, all have lost. I will get there one day, maybe..

Travelled really well last month over an extended mile and looked a real horse to follow up with today's Jockey Sam James looking through his legs 2f out like he was riding in a 3m chase. Wandered a touch in the closing stages and drops down to what looks like a perfect distance of a mile tonight 4lbs higher..

Career best was here last February off 77 for a 7lb claimer and looks to be coming into form after good second to a real in-form rival at Bellewstown just over a week ago. Gary Carroll retains the ride who won on this grey 4yr old as a maiden and he is now over a stone less than his best performance.

David O'Meara's colt AIHAWAWI was just run out of it and was a length in front of the in-form 5/6 favourite Bella Kopella 12 days ago for tonight's jockey Daniel Tudhope on his first fancied run after being 40/1 at Kempton in November.
Runs off the same mark and has a good draw for his style of running..

NATIVE BEACH showed a great attitude when running on over 7f beating the 6/4f here at Wolverhampton in a Class 3 maiden contest 20 days ago, Sir Mark Todd's colt goes into handicap company for the first time upped to 1m 1/2f with George Rooke again aboard..

Both ran well with AIHAWAWI finding just one better on the day, NATIVE BEACH found himself travelling too wide and an inside draw  would of been better running into 3rd..

Been keeping an eye on the turf and a couple have now won at decent odds with what I am looking for on The AW, time to start backing on the turf but 11/2 will be minimum price with 12/1 the cut off at the other end.

The 3yr old MONNOW VALLEY is generally thought to need less than today's 1m 2 1/2f and I had a thread a little while back along those similar lines where the horse in question came up trumps against all form and breeding odds.

On breeding Damian Joseph English's gelding's future looked more akin to sprinting but he finished in-front of five of today's rivals 10 days ago over 1m1f when he done far too much in first time blinkers from the front before running out of steam.

With a bit more restraint Rory Cleary who retains the ride will hopefully have the beating of Whiskey On The Hill who has that dreaded 2lb rise that some how seems to stop them..

Went streaking into the lead again and didn't last it out.
