The main problem is that most British fans do not think of Cheltenham in terms of Britain versus Ireland. It was the old Channel 4 team who latched on to it, along with the Prestbury Cup nonsense. I do not know how things look from the Irish side but remember the tricolour for an Irish winner came from the days when they won hardly anything.

Agreed, the Irish care desperately about it and want the English to care about it too, but we don't.
