as i said earlier, couldn't revise it without conceding they totally fooked up.  so just left it as it was and hoped everyone forgets about it.  racing look after their own, you fook up, don't worry we'll sort the mess out.  result stands.

What makes this a joke is clearly none of the jockeys who walked the course question saw fit to confirm the course layout, which seems odd as apparently there was a section of railing on or very close to the racing line with no marker on it.

Presumably it's quite a bit different in a race, riding a horse @30mph. Probably felt normal walking it to go inside.

stewards full of ex jockeys...

next time Manchester United play Liverpool they should let Gary neville be the referee with Roy Keane and Paul Scholes the two linesmen...

seems fair to me.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after several runners had appeared to take the
wrong course in the back straight by going to the outside of an isolated section of railings at the 2mile
4furlong start. All riders were interviewed along with the Clerk of the Course and shown recordings of the
incident. Their explanations were noted that all the riders had walked the course with a BHA Jockey Coach
and there were no markers on the railing to denote the hurdle course, and it was also not visible on the
Course Map. The Stewards ordered that the result was to remain unaltered, and no penalties were to be
imposed on any rider. They forwarded a report to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.

So - The longer of the 2 Rails shown on this google Earth Map - is to separate the INNER CHASE course from the outer Hurdle Track - just after the 2m4f Start ....

- and - that Longer Rail is entirely understandable - it being shortly after a Start

The Shorter (Partion) Rail shown further out (and perhaps shorter in this Photo than today's Layout ) is to ... err  - do what?

I think the shorter partition rail is there to separate the inner hurdles course from the outer hurdles course, that is the old flat course.
