i have had my account suspended by the security team but they say they wont give me a reason. I only bet small stakes but have previously been barred from promotions such as money back up to a tenner if 2nd or 3rd . I asked about any live bets as i have a fiver on Haaland to score 45 plus goals at 50 to one and they have said any bets are void but not mentioned a refund. Seems criminal to me.

Bet void = refund surely, in any circumstances?

Would be interested to know what you have done to get Security involved - multiple accounts?

They took the bet , they must honour the bet if it cops. Annoyingly you may need to go down this route

"They took the bet , they must honour the bet if it cops."

Yes but.  If the're closing his account because they no longer want the OP's business because he's "shrwed", yes they need to pay out his already-placed bets.

Hence why I asked about Security - if he's being closed for multiple accounts (technically fraud), anti-money laundering, terrorist financing or any of the things you would expect to see a Security department involved in, then no such chance.
Report Hayden February 3, 2023 2:01 PM GMT
It's not as simple as they took the bet so honour it as several reasons why they wouldn't be obliged to do so , however....

No refund on voided bets seems odd unless deemed fraudulent in some way.

Can you copy & paste their comments ?

If they’ve taken a bet when account was open ,they will honor it,ie the Haaland  bet…Unless there’s more to the story,,as someone else said..contact ibas….they can’t void bets they’ve already taken,,,unless they want to return stakes on all losers ,,,,hmmmm…..never heard of we are voiding all bets ? Is it your account ?

Sky bet was the first account and only account i ever got actually closed. Others were just restricted. However Sky bet (it was probably around 10-12 years ago) wrote me a threatening email saying that they suspected fraud/abuse or some words like this from me and would take legal action against me if i ever bet with them again. Literally i couldnt belive what i read. I thought how low a bookmaker can get to write things like that - just because you have applied some skill and experience to select some racing winners. I had done literally nothing other than have an account and bet on horses mainly. I was probably 3-4k up approx. What bullys! And typical of bullies who they really are: pick on are the weak and defenceless with BS bravado examples to everyone else

You can't void any bet once struck, unless the incorrect price was given , pretty much only fraud can stop the bet having to be honoured.

To OP have you ever self excluded from paddy power, poker stars/full tilt or betfair? Excluded from one means excluded from all.

We do apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you but the security team have made the business decision to no longer offer you our services here at Sky Betting And Gaming. This does mean that the account will not be reopened and you will not be able to create another account in the future.

The Security team do not have to disclose any further information with us so unfortunately we are unable to provide any further information on the matter. Please respect this decision as it will not be reconsidered. Once again we do apologise for the inconvenience and frustration this may have caused you.

unless you're a Grade A muggins, you will eventually receive this message from any online bookmaker.  it basically means they've had enough of you for a variety of reasons - not losing quickly enough, winning, betting carefully, taking good prices etc.  just make sure you get your Haaland bet honoured and forget all about them.  eventually the mugs will dry up and they'll go the same way as Betbright and the rest of them

Flutter own or at least did own Oddschecker, if you use Oddschecker they know, and assuming(and obviously) you then only bet with one of theirs(BF, PP, SKY etc) when they are out of line, they don't like it. Cookies really take the biscuit.

the normal "fack off" from books is "traders decision", "security" implies something else, so I would def demand the reason using data rights if required.

Report swiftynifty February 3, 2023 7:52 PM GMT
longbridge, fair enough. Why would a US investment company buy Oddschecker?
Report longbridge February 3, 2023 8:00 PM GMT
It's in their "space" - they do sports, entertainment, technology.

It has been a long while since I worked in the City so no closer to the matter than that.  I suspect Oddschecker wuld be one of their smaller acquisitions.
Report swiftynifty February 3, 2023 8:08 PM GMT

Report longbridge February 3, 2023 8:35 PM GMT
As I said, it's been an age since I worked in the industry, but what VC firms' backers don't want to see is them sitting on cash - so they will take a lot of punts across their sector.

I don't know if Flutter were made to divest Oddschecker as part of the Monopolies & Mergers / Competitions Commission review of the Sky takeover by Paddy Power Betfair?

Skybet still owe me around £80. Invited me to enjoy some free spins so deposited £30 and won £50, there was no play through t & C,s to worry about. Tried to withdraw money and account locked by security, tried again and again but they basically stole my money. In protest I cancelled Sky Tv/Broadband and mobiles with them and put the whole lot with Virgin. For the sake of £50 it has already cost Sky £2860 in lost revenue and a platimum customer who had used Sky for the best part of 25 years. Skybet, Sky media and Sky News are best avoided at all costs.

Sky Betting & Gaming is a British-based gambling company, owned by Flutter Entertainment, with headquarters in Leeds, West Yorkshire and offices in Sheffield & Solihull. Sky Betting & Gaming consists of five core brands: Sky Bet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Poker and Sky Bingo. Sky Betting & Gaming also operates popular, free-to-enter football prediction game Soccer Saturday Super 6.

In 2015, Sky plc sold an 80 percent stake in the company to CVC Capital Partners for £600 million,[1] with Sky retaining a 20% stake in the company and agreeing to a long-term licence of the Sky brand.[2] In 2018, CVC and Sky (then in the process of being acquired by Comcast) agreed to sell Sky Betting & Gaming to The Stars Group for £3.4 billion, which was then acquired by Flutter Entertainment in 2020.[3] Flutter continues to use the Sky name and logo, which are now owned by Comcast.

Punter gets banned by x or y online betting company.

Come on here to moan about it, claims to be innocent but says company won't tell them why is he banned.

Punter is advised to put in a data access request to obtain all computer data, computer profiling data & phone data they have relating to him.

Punter never does.

has anyone ever heard of a banned punter actually bothering to put in a data access request to find out the reason they were banned?

They can't void the Haaland bet because if they did that they would be saying that every bet you placed since then was void and you'd be entitled to a refund.

Also what would stop any firm shutting anyone down who were perhaps on the brink of a huge pay-out by simply saying, sorry computer says no.
