Crazy. Anyone with common sense, punting knowledge and customer history over a few years (sometimes less) can spot a problem gambler.

Agreed...I'd be fascinated to see a break down of the betting habits of the people who've got the call to see just how many slot players are included...or not as the case may be.

I presume you took most of the winnings out and made hefty deposits recently, rather then letting it build up with no withdrawals? If the latter, we're all screwed.

Not necessarily, Andriy.

I had to make a deposit last Wednesday for technical reasons (been doing my b0ll0cks), and I thought I might as well make it a decent one, in case I get restricted. So I deposited £4,000, and haven't heard a dickie bird since. I'd made quite a few withdrawals to that card previously, so maybe they do take that into account.

TYPE    DETAILS    TOTAL DEPOSITS (£)    TOTAL WITHDRAWALS (£)    NET DEPOSITS (£)     FEE    AMOUNT (£)
47** **** ****  4,005.00            13,165.00               -9,160.00    0

mitolo: This is my only source of income, but there's no way I'd ever hand over documents in the hope of persuading Betfair or the authorities that I had an income sufficient to sustain above-average levels of gambling. It would open up a right can of worms with the Revenue. (Yes, yes, I know a decent firm of accountants or lawyers should be able to prove that I'm not liable for income tax; but who needs that aggravation? Arguing with the Revenue about what I'd been doing for the last 31 years ... no thanks; I'd rather lie low and just live off my savings.)

How do you get a credit rating?  I always pay off my credit card by direct debit every month.  I don't know whether that qualifies me for a rating.  (If i've got one it should be a good one, in my opinion)

No surprise swad. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, my brother had the same. Went through the same bulllsh1t live chat conversation. He now has the same 100 limit BUT his account will be paused if he doesn't send in docs etc. He won't and I don't blame him. Farcical scenes at the mo.

If your methods of punting can be quite volatile and you are desperate to keep going I would employ a slightly safer stratergy punting wise or be trapped in the net.Go well all.Can find me on gambling twitter (better that you can put a face to a name anyway)

No one believed me when I said this was happening ffs

Its quite frankly disgusting that its come to violence but heyho here we are

I find it insulting that I can have a loss limit applied by them when it comes to a passtime, absolutely revolting attitudes

And... *clenches knuckles*

Its coming you can bet your bottom dollar on that, all because some sad bast@rds wanted to play god with every part of our lives..

go to the tax man and tell him you are a self employed gambler.Tell him you are a professional punter.
thats all you have to do.and if anyone asks why you gamble tell them that it is your job.
it sounds crazy but all you are doing is registering with the tax man.Everyone has to pay tax when they WORK.

Deposit limit is semi-workable as you can build funds. But loss limit/exposure limit would be much harder, it wouldn't matter if you had built up funds as you wouldn't be allowed to stake it.

I’ve made my views on all this pretty clear…but a couple of questions;

I have asked this in the past, but how many have had these restrictions after recently paying PC?
I can’t see how they could?

Also, if capital alone is sufficient to satisfy their request for proof of funds….then what exactly is the problem with showing them, say, a funded bond (put money into a fixed bond and send a copy of the letter with perhaps some security awareness)
There’s no obligation to inform the InRev that’s wrong. The InRev only need telling where tax is due, not on what you own.

I’ve also said this before, but bf need to be more pro-active here, it’s as though they are sitting around watching the demise of the exchange.
They could do with recreating the additional wallet, like when they had the Aus wallet, where funds are in an intermediate state that arn’t gambled, and encourage a drip feeding process, akin to a bank standing order than deposits every month.
The whole thing has seemed shambolic and piecemeal, it’s destroying confidence in the whole thing at best, at worst it’s dismantling the very ability to gamble, and for what?
Because some hand wringing lefties couldn’t keep up and wants everyone else blamed for their own failings, as per usual.

We need to complete verification checks before you can do certain things in connection with your Account, including withdrawing winnings from your Account. If we're unable to complete our checks to our reasonable satisfaction we will suspend or ultimately close your Account and pass on any necessary information to the relevant authorities (See clause 5).
Just received this. Change of conditions.

I posted this the other day.
It is clear that others were not sent this email.
Im guessing this means Im on their gambling aware team radar.
I therefore have reservations about withdrawing winnings as thats the time they will require the AFCs.
I have not had a bet for weeks now and have decided to not use the site again however I will not cancel and use it for info only.
back to the old days Im afraid using my 2 local betting shops.
Do they still offer cups of tea/coffee and treats on Sats.

I've had the email now about new terms & conditions.  So it is true that if you do not provide the documentation they require, they can refuse to refund deposited funds.
On balance, after careful consideration, I believe this to be unfair.
And if they ask why I am spending so much time and money not making any significant profit.  If they ask me is this to do with Covid or addiction problems. I will tell them that I am churning away to avoid paying Premium Charge, which they themselves have imposed.  Stolen more like it.  If they cared about gambler's problems, they should start by reimbursing me over £1000 in PC that I paid in one year a long time ago.

At the base of all this has to be a formula, that must be available on request, how could it not be while providing a service?

I believe there’s some law applicable when you set up a service/ offer goods for sale etc, that states there can’t be prejudice.
For affordability to pass human rights there has to be an underlying argument that ‘x’ amount of disposable income is required.
I’m guessing this must be the pivot at the centre of the White Paper argument, they can’t be non specific, there has to be a formula in it.

It’s bound to get tested IMO, the very premise that in gambling alone a decision has been made that dictates how much you are allowed to spend on it.
It’s utterly absurd.

Yes this basically hits the nail on the head of why my hands are tied regarding 3rd parties, that is source of funds technically.

To be honest you could say they were doing me a favour with the liquid at this place recently in in, shocking.

Yep the only thing I have really done "wrong" is....

Remember Chelt last year or the year before there were several ive been hacked threads, ever since then I havent left very much gambling bank in here at all, paranoia I suppose. That does then mean when I lay a loser if it was max stake then I need to deposit again, lay 4 winners in a day and there ofc is 3 deposits etc.

It's been made clear right from the start that capital alone is irrelevant. One of the stated points of all this is to stop people losing their savings. It's about income.

Money laundering laws pressure account providers to seek that sort of information and get sanctioned for failing

That won’t hold water, all institutions recognise capital as income.
Go and sign on for eg and they will create a virtual income based on the return of interest.
They all do, many here will get ‘paid’ that way, similar to a pension.

I actually cleared this or tried to clear this on the phone with him yesterday as I knew people would ask.

I wont say what level of funds I have saved, most will have more but I ask ed him if you do show savings, what % theoretically you could lose a month and the answer was its all case depedant, but approx 0.5%.

I dont actually disagree with this figure apart from the fact its your money do what you like.

Hi all again. Not post for ages but this is important.I also received the dreaded communication fairly recently (ridiculous  btw). The outcome for me without having to send or supply bank statement was a pleasant honest conversation with a pleasant slightly chap, who imposed a 5000 monthly deposit limit but I asked for double that refused for now.Interesting my near dormant PP account at the very same time was suspended and once cleared by Betfair no conversation  need lifted with exact same rest.Hope this helps a few who post on here.

Might want to ask your MP too, especially if they are one of the anti gambling ones.
They made out this wasn’t an attack on the activity and that it would only effect those with problems.
Ask them for an appraisal of whether they think that’s happening.
