68% of the U.K. population is double vaccinated. 67% of Covid hospital patients have received at least one dose.

"But you know this."

James Wells, a statistician who served as head of the ONS UK trade team until 2019, has written to the UK Statistics Authority objecting to a new report, published November 1st, which leads with the statistic that “the age-adjusted risk of deaths involving coronavirus (COVID-19) was 32 times greater in unvaccinated people than in fully vaccinated individuals”.

However, as James points out, this statistic uses data from January 2nd to September 24th 2021, which includes the bulk of the winter deaths at a time when almost no one was vaccinated. This massively skews the implied vaccine effectiveness, as a fair comparison would only include periods when a significant proportion of the country was vaccinated.

To explain what's going on here, there were 689 deaths involving COVID-19 of people who were fully vaccinated between 6 August and 3 September 2021, according to PHE Technical briefings 20 and 22. Which is more deaths among the vaccinated in four weeks over August than the whole first 6 months of this year! Yet the ONS has added those first 6 months to get the result they wanted.

US data also wrong?

Unvaccinated people in the US are at a 14 times greater risk of dying from covid-19 than those who are fully vaccinated against coronavirus, according to data from September published by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Even the ONS report itself states half-way through:  “the ASMRs [age-standardized mortality rates] do not show causal links between vaccines and risk of mortality”.

But who's going to read half the report to see that?

Duncan, no one has called you a retard or simpleton. I was actually referring to myself as I am not educated to a high degree and require things explained to me in a simple format. Just saying UK Column News explain it all really simply even i get what is going on in this crazy world.

Anyone seen this? Duncan, i appreciate the reply. We should all be working together to get the truth about what is going on but the divide in society is alarming. Ive even had problems within my own family with this and it is slowly destroying us all.Sad

Overall, we rate the UK Column a strong right-wing biased conspiracy website that frequently promotes false or misleading information.

The Office for Statistics Regulation has now complained to the Office of National Statistics about that headline!

The headline in the publication is the age adjusted risk of deaths involving COVID-19 for vaccinated and unvaccinated groups for the period 2 January to 24 September. This was also the key message in the main tweet associated with the publication. Focusing on the headline figure has been unhelpful and has undermined the more helpful analysis provided later in the report.

...

The data cover a period when very few people had two doses of vaccination, to a period when the majority of the adult population had two doses (data taken from gov.uk on 24 November 2021 show second dose uptake for age 12 and over in England was 0.8% on 10 January 2021 and 77.4% by 24 September 2021). It also covers a period when case rates varied significantly as well as the levels of natural immunity in the population.

...

Given the analysis carried out, more should have been done to highlight the uncertainty associated with the headline figure. The publication itself did go some way towards putting the headline figure in context, but this was not the case in the more condensed description in the tweet.

Super Covid in Belgium…guess it’s already in the UK but just a case of no one being tested for it as yet.

People going to end up with more jabs than a Pacquio fight with all the boosters they’ll end up being forced to take.

We don't know a lot about the effects of caffeine during pregnancy on you and your baby. So it's best to limit the amount you get each day. If you're pregnant, limit caffeine to 200 milligrams each day. This is about the amount in 1½ 8-ounce cups of coffee or one 12-ounce cup of coffee

Yeah, but they seem to know EVERYTHING about a fast tracked, not properly trialed vaccination. You really can't make this stuff up.

I've been thinking about this advocating that people who decline the jibby jab should be denied medical care, and you know what, I'm now actually in agreement with it!

It's a tough decision, but I guess if I become seriously ill, I'm just going to have to do without being potentially placed in an induced coma and put on a ventilator for weeks / months.

Censorship is the most infuriating problem in our "free" society. If you need to censor someone to win a debate, it means your arguments are sh1t and you're wrong.

George, I've been thinking the same thing. If I could sign a waiver that would give me ALL pre-2020 freedoms back if I waived my right to medical care, I would do it in a second. But there would be no point in signing it if I can't even go to a restaurant. Also, I don't know if "medical care" means everything or just covid-related treatment.
