Anyone shed any light on the choice of JPS replacing Sean Levey who is suspended?

Given the number of people they could have turned to it seems odd that they have plumped for Jamie who has had very few rides for connections over the years, surprised that they didn't go with Marquand or even De Sousa, maybe it is inspired but wouldn't see any of my money as Poetic Flare will hopefully give another impressive display of his wonderful talent.

was gonna start a thread but seen yours so will put my thoughts on here cork, agree with you on jamie on snow lantern good chance but on  this track and his usual style not for me at the prices ,poetic flare the titanium horse the obvious one to beat but he is a deserved short price and although the likely winner i have to take him on .alcohole free must have a good chance and has beaten snow lantern on similar ground to todays . i like the chance of tilsit who was only just touched off by a good horse in skalleti in france 2 runs back , then landed the summer mile last time and  has won over c&d last season, has a bit to find on the ratings but progressing well . i like a few at decent odds in these type of races and chindit appeals at a big price each way ,behind poetic flare a few times this season but can be backed at 40/1 and was a decent performer last season and ran well last time behind the fav in the st james palace at ascot btn just over 5l  hannon has said they will ride him more handily today.
selections tilsit 14/1 each way bog b365 and chindit 40/1 each way billies ..........good luck !

Hannon saying Chindit would not run yesterday but wouldn't be the first time he's changed his mind

hope he runs ,if you dont buy a ticket ya wont win the raffle and if the fav underperforms its up for grabs .

having listened to Hannon yesterday and now rewatched the Ascot race, I see why Hannon was so adamant he needs Snow Lantern to settle hence Spenser and if Snow Lantern does settle he only has Poetic to beat, also having watched Poetic again on the soft in France, he was beaten partly by an inability to quicken on soft as well as he can on better ground, having said that with a better trip he would have finished at least second to St Marks which should be good enough for today.

Chindit now a confirmed non runner

We’ve been so blessed with the 3yr olds taking part and the other older horses that a master trainer slipped one in pretty much unnoticed ie Duhail / Fabre.

Last time he won this was 87 with Soviet Star

https://youtu.be/I1kXWX7gkA0

And I suspect he’ll be ridden the same way too…

Not sure what to make of the jockey booking but I suppose he wanted someone who knows his way around Goodwood.

I’ll decide later on how to back him once we get a final confirmation on the non runners ie I suspect I’ll be dipping into the without markets for this one.

ELG, Fabre never to be ignored or underestimated when he chooses to send one over, on this occasion though I think a place will be the best he can expect especially with Crowley doing the steering, its form falls someway short of the pick of these and only the ground in its favour means it should not be totally written off, gl

Good pick IMO Duhail - it's not yet exposed at this trip, so not sure how we can knock it fully on form.

Won't mind the softer ground, great e/w pick at this price.

Penzie yes if JS can get Snowy up to win the Sussex it would bring him back from obscurity. GL

Crowley only thing putting me off a decent bet for Duhail, must admit.

Is the fav Poetic Flare as cast iron as the winner of the Goodwood Cup yesterday? Both clearly superior to the others. Bolger is not concerned the looser ground could hinder his charge; 6/4 (without Place Pier) represents value. No?

If I had to back a fancied one, I'd go with PF here - don't trust Spencer an inch.

Poetic Flair should be very hard to beat here. With Palace Pier not in the lineup, I thought he could well be the best bet of the meeting.

sageform
When: 28 Jul 21 12:37
Poetic Flare has the best overall form no question but his two defeats were on soft and heavy while Alcohol Free achieved her best rating on heavy so she is my value bet. In other races, I have been following Fearby so he is my choice in the Molecombe and Bounce The Blues in the Oak Tree.

Spencer having a top day so far...2 unplaced.

Would need to win the big one to redeem at all.

So, anyone brave enough to back the redemption here...looks like fair support in market for Spencer redemption.

Sageform, P.F 2 defects were against top class horses and I'm expecting another blistering run today though the ground is not ideal .

Only having a smallish ew for the Fabre horse here, no other plays.

Brilliant race this.  Lots of little head to heads, plus Ryan v Frankie for Coolmore, all topped up by Bolger doing what all top trainers should do and actually racing his top-class racehorse in a top class race.  Again.
