The public will be the last to know.

Ryan not riding would be a positive to a lot of people
By:
probably ride the pacemaker if nobody's going to bother chasing it ...
By:
Any jockey but Moore. I think it's probably market manipulation in progress.
By:
Lovely of O’Brien to put everyone away yesterday on this horse...now running just the one horse after hyping others as well for the race
Free money for the bookmakers |
By:
I have read the piece on High Definition, but where does it say he is only going to have one runner?
Link please. |

Waiting for the Irish Derby as things stand; final decs at 10am tomorrow. The mafia want to separate him and Bolshoi Ballet for commercial reasons eg a Derby each, not in the interest of horseracing. All the recent trainer's horsey eulogy was a smokescreen to punters.
I thought Covid was detrimental to the finances of the general public, but Coolmore is more deadly to horseracing punters! |
By:
Racing Post just updated.
Why not give all these plans (or even possibilities) out earlier instead of waiting for the final declarations? That aside great news that he won't be able to manipulate the race. |

"That aside great news that he won't be able to manipulate the race"
But, he's been stringing the punters along big time. A lone ranger in The Derby was never a scenario discussed or envisaged. A crooked lot! |
By:
If you look at my comments I am agreeing with you, certainly not defending O'Brien, but I think we can now at least look forward to race that should be a proper stamina test.
By:
Is there any confirmation that it's definitely not running yet?
By:
bb only ballydoyle runner into 5/4
By:
You would have thought he would know the pecking order of his horses by now. He had 8 or 9 still in just before the 5 day decs. He is either pretty clueless or putting the racing public away.
By:
That's not how they work is it, it's a numbers/factory type operation. Punters try to get an edge by second guessing what they will do, fair enough but don't complain if it goes wrong.
People moaning as the yard mobs the race and moaning when he leaves one in. On Luck last Sunday he didn't commit to anything. Said they will do the final work Mon/Tue, pass the data to 'the lads' and they will make the final call. Said it could be one, two, three, four or five and they all have different options. Perhaps people hear what they want to hear. |

O'Brien can't win whatever he does. Other years he's been criticised for a scattergun approach. Yes if you are on High Definition ante post you are a bit unlucky but that's the whole point of ante post betting. Most years and in many big races he runs his best horses against each other. Gosden on the other hand hardly ever does yet for some reason him and Dettori seem comparatively free from criticism.
By:
Not a mob you can trust hope they win nothing oaks& derby
By:
And they were wondering why the race is not what it was .......I love forward to the gravy train media saying nowt.
By:
Gosden's yard isn't run by a breeding operation and has multiple, unconnected owners. If you own a good one you're probably happy enough not to be beaten by one of his other good ones (and have Frankie in the plate.

O'Brien can't win whatever he does.
it's a bit of a jump going from 6 entries to 1 - they must have known some time ago which were the best - so why wait until a few days before the race |
By:
They do know. But they are worked and timed before the decision is made. So the situation can change.
By:
The take out I guess is that they aren't fussed about guaranteeing a fast run race.
By:
LOUGH DEARG.......lol !!!

By:
@A_T if you think Tabor has any input, steer clear of Nigerian princes.
By:
Disgusting carry on from "the boys"
It was clear at the backend of last week the horse would be a nonner and still they gave out glowing reports and how the fast pace in the race would suit him. |
By:
be careful things could change before 10am if they do massive prices available
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, O'Brien told the Racing Post: "Things could change before 10am, but at the moment it looks as though there's going to be one runner for us at Epsom on Saturday, Bolshoi Ballet. It looks like High Definition will come to the Curragh for the Irish Derby." |
By:
Problem with Coolmore monopoly is, it's very difficult to oppose them in the Classics these days but you have no idea what their riding plans will end up being. It makes AP betting on the Classic, which used to be a value angle worth exploring, much more of a minefield. Prescott summed it up, 'Too many in one kennel'. Coolmore now just running 1 almost looks like PR exercise.

Frankie on John Leeper feel sorry for Kirby
By:
like saying "nothing could keep up with Santa Barbara in work - NOTHING" - pre guineas and winning with the other one - they are simply disgraceful - AND they are the best - really makes you wonder
By:
Have to pity ante post high definition backers. Or does anybody waste money on ante pist anymore?
By:
and the coolmore lot still not even close to a frankel, dancing brace or even enable in their ranks

Sadly, there are people on forums who think it's clever to just play devil's advocate. This one isn't as badly polluted as others might be.
Why would anyone want a fast pace for who a horse who has quickened smartly over 10f on quick ground and never run over 12f? |
