This was simply a vigil planned by young women for young women about young women. What on this earth did the Police think they were doing? The moment they stuck there oar in there was the possibility of trouble and again the Met Police look bigots. Whoever is making the decisions should be shown the door. The only time you wonder what on earth this is coming to is when the powers that be make stupid decisions and then end up apologising for them. When will they learn?

Ironically they are protesting against unknownkillers lurking in the dark coming together during a pandemic to unknowingly be potentialy unknownkillers to other like minded people.

Wrong SQ. It was planned as a vigil. The authorities should have supported them and ensured it was carried out properly. They didn't, they tried to ban. And, unlike you, they are on the TV apologising for being heavy handed. Where does your stance sit amongst that? There are more people playing sports today than attended the vigil.

When I first heard of the vigil for Sarah...I was looking forward to attending..
a day later, I decided not to attend, as have many of her friends...

my reason for not attending is this: my friend’s tragic death has been hijacked.

It is not a tribute to her...

this from a friend of the woman the vigil was meant to be about , hijacked by ACAB likely

sky wont show you the footage of the hate chants or the violence towards police tho doesnt suit the narrative sadly

Organisers of a vigil planned for Sarah Everard in south London are still hopeful it can take place, despite effectively losing a High Court challenge against a ban on the event.

But the Metropolitan Police urged people to find a "lawful and safer way" to express views on women's safety.

Earlier, a High Court judge refused to say the event would be permitted under coronavirus regulations.

Organisers Reclaim These Streets said discussions with police would continue.

Saturday's event was planned after the disappearance of Ms Everard, 33, who was last seen alive on 3 March when she was walking home along a main road in Clapham, prompted public debate about women's safety.

On Friday, serving Met Police officer Wayne Couzens, 48, was charged with the kidnap and murder of Ms Everard.

As well as the vigil on Clapham Common, sister events have been planned for other cities and towns including Cambridge, Cardiff, Leeds, St Andrews and Liverpool.

It was never to be because the Police thought they could bully a small group of women. The hate filled women were protesting their right to hold a vigil. I don't expect bigots to understand that but everybody who should stand up and say it was wrong, have. Because it was wrong. Everyone has rights. This is not a Police or a bigoted males state.

Britain is now a degenerate liberal democracy.
1. The "vigil" contravened the Covid regulations, 2. The organisers cancelled the vigil. 3. People were told NOT to attend. The vigil was taken over by a bunch of Lebanese, man hating womens rights activists & the usual rentamob a la Stinktion Rebellion. I EXPECT THE POLICE TO UPHOLD THE LAW BY ANY LEGAL MEANS! Breaking the law is not up for debate otherwise this heinous crime couls also be up for debate. You just cannot choose which laws you feel like keeping or breaking. I, myself when in London am ALWAYS alert to threats. When using a subway DAY OR NIGHT I have my keys spread between my fingers. This is just like BLM- a worthy cause taken over by vested interests. From reading the papers & watching the media one would think there is a pandemic of men attacking women. And then they go on blaming pornography as well. How many men watch pornography & DON'T attack women. Like everything else in the country it's gone too far. As for a 6pm curfew...............................

Metropolitan Police -- what were they thinking? Were they thinking?

This was never going to be the poll tax riots. It was a small number of middle class women, socially-distanced and wearing masks, in the open air where just last week Sir Patrick Vallance said there was no evidence of Covid spikes.

Really? If you're kneeling next to each other that's not socially-distanced. Middle class women? Really??

Some of you should look at the crowds down Oxford street not socially distancing or even wearing masks.

This was a statement of intent by the Police because they have been walked all over by the BLM mobs. Everyone in power knows they were wrong. Even the Met Police know they were wrong.
It is no good Hello looking at the problem afterwards. This was caused by the Police. The women protesting were protesting a bad decision made by the Police. You are so wrong in every way it looks like a forum of bigots when I am sure it isn't.

This was a simple task for the Police to allow to happen ffs. They went in with dogs and an intent to arrest after they hade decided not to allow a simple vigil. It makes them look like bigots and how can they claim they are not?

I can't speak for everyone sparrow but I abide by the regulations. What really puzzles me is how Ramruma knows the difference between a middle class woman and a working class woman.

Hundreds breaking the rules as I watch Parliament Square at this very moment....in breach of regulations. If it kicks off again I hope the police go in heavy handed.

Plenty placards being held saying the police are filth or worse.

Welcome to London.

You obviously mean the Police and their dogs? This event attracted the wrong people BECAUSE the Police went in heavy handed and tried to BAN it. You bypassed the start Hello. You cannot do that. The Police should have known that by banning it the wrong element would get involved. It must have been as obvious as the noses on their faces. Ffs they must be completely stupid or thy did it deliberately.
