do the drones just fly up the home straight or all round the track following the hosses?

normally hover over far side and concentrate on last furlong or so..

Courses should have trained Falcons to take them out of the sky, that would be fun.

they did..8 lost a leg each so they halted it.

Shafty, just how much money is there to be had in last furlong? In what way can those drones be worthy?

getting peanuts myself last 2f laying snipey..not much there for the backers either..its mystified me for months how they can justify the outlay...the advantage the drones will have is forward movers from say 3 out betting on an offset.

At Southwell today 6f start guy with a camera in the field pitched up with his camping chair and tripod  so not just the final furlong
By:

When: 27 Nov 20 21:31
Sure Shafty, I could see their uses at specific points but even then I don't gather how much of an edge they could have against players who take and anticipate odds at same level with standard pics Confused
By:
Rico-Dangleflaps
When: 27 Nov 20 21:55
its all about momentum using that time advantage and using an offset..then the slower players seeing the same momentum taking their offset price thus creating a green or bet to nothing..its a great tool used correctly.

the bloke in the field with a camera is still sending live pics of the last few furlongs.

It maybe a ‘great tool’, (I’ll resist the obvious reference) but relying on such an ‘ability’ is completely devoid of skill, it is in essence the very semblance of simplicity and as a result the people reliant on it are completely at the whims of a constantly changing environment, ergo they will struggle in the long game.

As long as they neither bank on it as their pension, nor Chuck their toys out when they are driven out then fine.

dont need to rely on skill to buy houses for cash dusty..
By:

When: 28 Nov 20 11:45
I dont doubt it
But the point was about now and the future
The non skilled users relied on low hanging easy fruit using a leg up
They wont have such an easy future

for an intelligent man you amaze me..

you simply cannot in the current climate expect to make a decent living when people are 20yds ahead.

I'm pretty sure you are making my point for me.
I have nobody in particular in mind it's a general observation, but it's wrong to assume the only route to consistent decent profit is to look for the simplest method that anyone could attempt.

The trick is to keep finding new low-hanging fruit (or an edge, as I call it).

How can you say there won't be more edges in the future? Technology has a habit of progressing as the need arises. Fifteen years ago a sub to SIS was high-tech low-hanging fruit. A drone was science fiction.

It doesn't benefit me, but that's my choice. For my betting I want HD clarity more than I want 20 yards, so RTV on the telly suits me fine. But I'm not kidding myself that the day won't come when some punters find a way of getting 30 yards ahead on HD. But it'll be my fault for being too old, comfortable and complacent if I don't do anything about it and can't compete. It wouldn't be a social injustice.

I've played of a handicap for years and I'm in no danger of being dislodged
It's the less stoical one dimensional types who will go belly up first

I've always said the vine withers from the extremes
By:

When: 28 Nov 20 12:31
Have they gone belly-up, though? They've gone from SIS to raw feeds to private boxes to drones. They seem to have gone from one single-dimensional advantage to another. That speaks of foresight and resourcefulness to me.

That's a question for greeny
By what hes said in the recent past a fair proportion are finding it hard, and the ones hes referring to dont play off LV
By:
screaming from beneaththewaves
When: 28 Nov 20 12:45
Fair enough.

I was just going by the fact that greeny himself is still here after all these years, winding people up with his schemes, his wheezes, and his general unfair advantages.
