While I accept your point in principle WS your example is very poor
Buying a TV on the cheap (getting a bargin) isnt the same as getting a position to take advantage of others

Sure there maybe only 200 tvs, and only the first 200 get one, but this is about cheating others out of their honest bets
By:
Willie Shafter.
When: 01 Aug 20 13:45
hardly cheating..it isnt illegal.

If there was an official body that stood to regulate fair selling of consumer goods so that everyone got a fair chance at getting a tv then you'd have a point....but there isnt
But there is a betting regulator whos job it is to protect the public

its called rising from your armchair and show initiative.

I reckon that if the 1st in the queue at fenwicks don't know what he's doing he won't get the teleMischief

They are cheating people out of their money, it doesnt matter how you define the language
By:
dustybin
When: 01 Aug 20 13:47
No it isnt its about taking advantage when there are supposed safeguards in place.
Otherwise all yards could bet on the outcome that they know will or wont happen, laying their own horses etc, you could say well they are at work why not

the track seats were available to anyone who showed some initiative...all transparent and above board...but the masses want to sit in their armchair and complain about these people..

comedy gold.

those at home know there are faster pics available..but dont want to access them..

so its quite simple, dont play if ya not happy.
By:

Utter rubbish
The tracks exclusively sell privilige on the knowledge hospitality is used as trading rooms that get funded by the profits they make off the advantage, you know this, I know this, presumably the regulator knows this...yet eyes look elsewhere like they all turned blind deaf and dumb

Unlicenced individuals buy up finite places on course and then sub let them
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 13:55
they were available to the 1st that showed initiative.

10 horses beaten at odds no in running esterday afternoon

increased to 18 in the evening for a total of 28 in Britain and ireland yesterday
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 13:57
So laying your own horse to lose would be clased as 'showing initiative'?
By:
Willie Shafter.
When: 01 Aug 20 13:58
track boxes were available to the 1st that showed initiative.
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 13:59
Ffs not this boxing day p1sh again..... nobody gives a flying fck if 'initiative' gets somebody a few tenths of a second. It's the deliberate act by some to turn that possible few tenths into a second plus, especially when it's been flouted at us. Of all the time I've been doing this now is the time when we can say more than ever that the current delay shouldn't be happening. If people still want to be on track or using a drone to get that extra advantage then that's up to them and it's a separate issue
By:
dustybin
When: 01 Aug 20 14:00
When finite positions are available to a select few it doesnt matter who those few are, the fact its only a limited number to use an advantage to win money off others is no different to having the advantage of knowing your horse isnt going to win and laying it accordingly.

All the counter arguments are vested interest

How about those of us who used to slog daily around the country from meeting to meeting thirty years ago, seeing horses leading until the last, finishing unplaced, and seeing them get a Raceform comment of "tailed off, al beh"? Were we cheating, or taking advantage of the lack of pictures, when we hammered those horses in from 33s next time out and watched them waltz home? Should we have written letters to Raceform begging them to change their in-running comment, in case stay-at-home punters were put away and got put off the game?

Or should we have done what we did - yelled the winners home, reaped the rewards, got looked on enviously, and watched as newcomers came along and tried to emulate us?

I don't do what Wazza does with motorized dishes and fast pics, because I had my fun back then, and I can't be arsed with the hassle of betting in every single race now. But I'm not kidding myself that I'm morally superior because of it. I'm just a bit lazy, and happy and comfortable with RTV HD pics off the telly. That's all.

Those privilged positions are unique. They are using fastest internet and fastest feeds that are not available for any money anywhere else. You going around the country wasnt a limited resource as anyone could have done it. These are limited position ffs

Shafter, the last time you said the seats at track were widely available to anyone that wanted one
I asked you to get me one at either Mussleburgh, perth or hamilton and you told me you couldnt as was
closed shop
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 14:07
Fair enough, dusty.

Maybe it's just my problem that I've never got worked up about Wazza doing better than me. Good luck to him. Two furlongs out is the point people like me stop betting and people with his advantages start. Everyone's happy as far as I can see.
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 14:09
However agree with john, if people want to go to track or facetime good on them, they aint the problem
really. The problem is there is a fast lv that works as we all seen on the trial and they fast
pics are being kept for a select few and not given to all like they were meant to be and should be
By:
dustybin
When: 01 Aug 20 14:12
Yes Screaming.
Why anyone should care how others do is puzzling, and Ive never singled out anyone by name Ive always been consistent that its not for them to make the choice, the regulator should be stopping the possibility of those taking advantage. In my view everyone should be of that mindset, if they arnt you have to ask why?
By:
jamesdean
When: 01 Aug 20 14:13
Give everyone the fast lv pics and if anyone wants to go to the track for an extra .3 miliseconds
then good luck to them. The majority .5 behind live would stay at home, plus youd get more people
willing to play, more liquidity. Better for all

I'd maybe try mussleburgh for a day out at the races

if they're doing nowt wrong and everything is above board...

what's the problem Mr.Hunt...???
By:

When: 01 Aug 20 14:36
I'd sooner have it the way it is now than nothing at all, my worry is that we go from one end of the spectrum to the other and some dynamo comes in and basically says that it's such a murky world with a select few getting access to things others aren't that they manage to get the whole thing taken away from us...if they can't be stopped let them have the fast pics, they ain't winning off me is what I say!!! If your profitable anyhow I say, be careful what you wish for.
By:

be careful what you wish for.

------------------------------

it's not what we wish for...

it's what was trialled in feb / march...

what should've been delivered on April 1st and then June 2nd...

and what seems to be taking a heck of a long time to 'fix' now...
By:

If we're into conspiracy theories then I'll entertain one of my own,

From the word go the bookies have hated I/R, Betfair are now owned by a bookie, they then put this scenario in place and in so doing realize that we'll all kick up such a fuss that sooner or later it'll become an issue more widely acknowledged.

They then discover that some have had access to an unfair advantage and in the interest of everyone they knock the whole I/R game on the head citing that they can't guarantee integrity going forward...voila

Job done.

Why wouldnt they just stop it without all that bother?

But what would bf's USP be if they lost either the exchange or IR?
They'd just be another bookie who had and lost their market share majority
