Whilst i'm as frustrated as everyone that the pictures aren't as fast as the three trials. I guarantee they are working towards producing them. It may take a bit more time due to lack of testing during the lockdown, with their team being furloughed, but it is in both Betfair's and RTV's interest to get this to work. I've asked them to recommend Betfair put a formal announcement out tomorrow to let everyone know the position. Betfair need to be more proactive rather than relying on me. If in a few weeks they come out and say that's as fast as we can get them i'll be straight back on the case.

At least RTV are working to produce this stream, the Irish speeds have definitely improved. If anyone has an issue with streaming it should be with ATR, who took the option of producing a slow latency stream instead. Yet they still can't get a stable picture regularly for that. I have run ideas past ARC but again they fall on deaf ears.

Given the behind closed doors scenario it should be a level playing field, but it's clear that isn't the case which is very frustrating and in my opinion a bigger worry for the industry. How are people getting the quicker pictures when the only people allowed on track are officials who have a set role to play in the race day? I don't believe it's all down to drones! Perhaps Betfair could do a bit of detective work to find out?

thanks the bootman. i don't think any of the frustration is aimed at you as we can all agree that your efforts are greatly appreciated

Staff at ATR and RTV will have access to a direct feed from the track.

Should be against staff rules, insider trading. Knuckles wrapped for that.
Looks the most likely cause though

bm with respect..why would arc be interested in speeding the transmission of pictures up? for who's benefit?

and why does it need more testing? they had it going perfectly well 3 mth ago..they know what format they used..replicate it..cant be that difficult.

It only takes 1 Fox to get in the hen house to do the same damage as 10.

Betfair can easily see who they are, the algorithm will point them out instantly. If it were a stable lad then their account would be frozen while they investigated....what’s the difference?

Have you spoke 2 ATR bootman about a service where you pay for the meetings on a daily, weelkly or monthly subscription through there site.As for the RTV keep going anything is bettter than nothing as its FREE.
By:
jamesdean
When: 09 Jun 20 12:16
It's not free. Betfair pay a fortune for it and we all pay Betfair a fortune through commission.

An investigation would certainly set the Bigcat amongst the pigeons...
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 12:33
You have to pay the commission come what may, we would all love to be 0.6 behind live if you are wanting that i suggest you start going into the boxes on course when the public are allowed back on.
By:
mind your own B
When: 09 Jun 20 12:39
Then you will be 0.1/0.2 if your in the box.
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 12:41
Or you could buy a pair of binoculars and see it live.
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 12:42
Betfair pay a fortune for the feeds so it is in their interest to have them as fast as possible, they certainly aint 'FREE'

Why should I or anyone else have to go the boxes on course to get .6 behind live when rtv have already shown they can produce that to everyone,
making it a more level playing field?

I agree with you though, if people want to go to the boxes to be .1/.2 behind live then good luck to them. Nothing against that/them.

All I'm saying is that the live video can be .6 for all home users so there's no reason why it shouldn't be. If you want to be at track
and are willing to go then fair doos
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 12:44
Good in theory but the boxes get bought up so in practice you'll find it difficult
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 12:53
Yes the trial was 0.6 so we can only hope they get back there,as for the boxes dusty id say alot of people are playing with hand held devices to cut back on the expenses iv been racing and seen ex box players doing that

what have they resorted to now...?

aye but that game fraught with danger...especially knowing there are predators sat in a comfy box with a nice cup of tea overviewing all the developments and just a fraction of a second behind and all the mod cons to capitalise

people keep repeating the trial was 0.6 behind live..it wasnt,it was virtually on par with ft.

so even faster willie?
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 13:18
You are correct as normal Willie. When we checked the trial when it was done at Kempton it was a very quick click of the fingers behind Facetime , and from what i remember the Facetime picture was in fact better quality. So basically the the whole thing was negated .
By:
mind your own B
When: 09 Jun 20 13:20
Willie is right i saw a film that somebody had taken a fraction behind the face time pics so Jamesdean  you would have to ask somebody who knows how far face time pics are behind
By:

`the facetime picture was in fact better quality'.

This thread is descending into farce.

These RTV LV streams are too scratchy, even if you are getting it a bit quicker it must be a smooth so you can read what you're seeing better.

Watching RTV via Sky, even if fractionally behind is more than made up for by the smooth streaming of it, add on the size and you could argue that the LV is playing at a disadvantage.

i think most people would much prefer super duper fast pics (as per the trial in late february / early March) of lesser quality as opposed to smooth HD pics that are much much slower duffy...

it's a personal choice that CAN be delivered...
By:
duffy
When: 09 Jun 20 13:40
Let's have super duper fast pics that are smooth too!! If that isn't deliverable they need to say.

At the moment it seems that the quicker the pics the more the quality degenerates.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

oh i'd much prefer super duper fast pics on ch426 (or in fact ch874) myself...

why it isn't possible is anyone's guess...

when ATR was behind the red button how far behind 'live' was it...?
By:

When: 09 Jun 20 13:43
The quality was absolutely fine and usable for most during the trial. There's issues all the time even when the lv is slow
so making them faster not the problem. Best making them as fast as possible and let the individual decide

RTV missing a huge opportunity with ch874...

no pundits...no graphics..just raw feeds from the track...

absolutely beyond me why this channel exists in it's present format...

DOESN'T ANYONE LIVE NEAR A COURSE ON HERE??

NOW MOBILES WITH LIVE VIDEO ON ARE UPTO SPEED IT WOULD BE REALLY REALLY EASY TO GET THE EXACT DELAY AGAINST LIVE!!!

A few think they know but actual fact would be nice.....

These new pictures are a massive turnoff. Far far smaller picture - almost impossible to fathom anything. What on earth is wrong with the pictures they has up to just recently with none of this nonsense surrounding the picture and just clean pictures with the ability to go full screen if you wanted. These new ones are utterly useless in comparison. Also what is going on with the speed? It has been impossible today with horse that would normally be say 14 or 16/1 suddenly being 200/1 . This has not happened before.

Why is every improvement ALWAYS a step backwards?

The new model to watch is now based on revenue rather than bet & watch.

Therefore, they are trying to snare mug punters with all the on-screen gimmicks.

ponte tomoz

you can increase the size via the browser but you can't customize it, only to the set increases, can't fill the screen like ATR pics.
