must have the A-Team on the emails tonight. usual answer would've been "hello tiger, what is horse racing ?"
By:
Thats what I expected hulk, got quite a surprise to get any reply never mind an early reply.

Any racing is welcome even if just to break the boredom as an observer. I would like to think that Betfair were going to give us more than one meeting each day though, or is that all there is to start off with?
By:
they have proposed 3 meetings for the 11th,in addition to the Longchamp card there are also meetings at Toulouse and Compiegne in the afternoon, both jumps
By:
Isn't French racing basically structured round 4 or 5 major courses and then a host of much less important regional meetings ?
By:
soz the toulouse card is mixed
By:
Cheers elise, just had a look, more than 1,000 entries for the first days meetings, thats one hell of a lot for three meetings.
It seems that the French are colour coding the differeent regions of France and only those regional areas with a low virus rate will be approved by the local police to have race meetings. |
By:
yes that's my understanding
re betfair prior to covid they had a reduction on the meetings they covered, took to back to a core of about 8-10 tracks, can't see them sticking with that now, think they'd do all French meetings for the near future (so day 2 moulin wouldn't have been a track they'd cover but now I think they will) |

Gonna have a look at flights, fancy going to this.

By:
is eathlight due to run in the 2000 trial ?
By:
not on the france galop page as running
By:
Victor ludorum is running in the 2000 trial and Scotsass is running in the group 2
By:
On the 2 daily American meetings, they have difficulty telling us the distance of the race. Must be hard work to do that.
By:
Victor Ludorum is 4/5 (4/7 with others) with 'billies' after the scratching of Earthlight in the Fontainbleau; tremendous value I believe, assuming he's as fit and as ready as others.

They interviewed a chap from France Galop yesterday who was very informative but no foreigners will be admitted including jockeys or trainers and no spectators of any sort. French horses only for at least the rest of June. I suppose you could go over and put some Onions round your neck and a black beret on you head and call yourself Rene
. |
By:
Originally it was no foreign horses until the 1st of June.

I saw Victor Ludorum on Arc day and whilst he won well enough, I wasn’t overly impressed, even given the soft going.
His first 2 races were ordinary to say the least, the first for newcomers and the second an average conditions event. Granted he won both easily, but the form is questionable. I flipped through all the runners in those races earlier and only a couple have won since. He’s obviously got ability and Andre Fabre knows a thing or two about horses (apparently highly regarded) but I would certainly be a layer at 4/7. The horse I took out of the Prix Jean Luc was actually the 5th home, Helter Skelter, but this group finished under a blanket (only beaten just over a length) and he was closing them down at the finish. He re-opposes on Monday and could be the EW value. |
By:
Plenty of winners have come from his debut race and Alson who he beat at Longchamp went on to win another Group 1, hardly poor form. The one I took out of the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere was Helter Skelter nearest at the finish. Might be a place for him, but VL is still the one they have to beat.
By:
thought jockey on helter skelter was very slack that day to be honest. made up a huge amount of ground and was ahead 10 yards after the line..maybe he was told to mind the horse in the soft ground..
By:
I agree Kavvie, given far too much to do.

Distant Drum - Easy to join France-Galop. Racecards, Form, Replays etc. Watch Khayzaraan's last two races; Not sure what she beat, but mighty impressive. She is entered Monday. Would have run in our Guineas but now being prepped for theirs.

Tiger,
Two horses have come out of Victor Ludorums debut race and won and whilst i accept Alson won a G1 since being beaten by him, it was a 2 horse race run on heavy ground and Donnacha O'Brien simply let the runner up (outsider of 2) amble home at leisure. Victor Ludorum is clearly the one to beat, but that's why he's 4/7. First time up this season, not knowing if he/others have trained on and as he's being aimed at the French 2000 will he be fully wound up on Monday anyway. Helter Skelter wasn't far off at the line behind him and with a better ride may even have won. VL could win on the snaff, but would you want to lump on at 4/7. Good luck. |

This will be upsetting the doom fear pushers
The likes of Angoose wont know what to do with themselves over summer They can pick it up in winter though ![]() |
By:
Andrew, Victor Ludorum, Twist, MKFancy (won a Group 1) and Launen, are all winners that came out of that race. The early bird gets the worm as they say and 4/5 was available earlier today about VL as Impossible123 said at 13.37.
Good luck if you play. |
By:
tiger, only saw your post on the derby/oaks after i posted on other thread, ive copied your post on it .

By:
Thanks Tiger,
If i do play, it will be a lay of the fav and a small EW or 3TBP on Helter Skelter if there are 8 runners. I'll be working so hopefully i can find an empty meeting room and watch it on LV. Twist has only ran once ![]() |
By:
Thanks TT and Blackbarn. Will have a look later.
I am much more National Hunt but I did put together a list of horses to watch out for. The two french ones I included were Ocean Atlantique and Pao Alto. I really struggled to find that many of interest and I am not sure in general their two year olds were that good. Sky's french expert put up Khayzaraan but I didn't include her as she seemed a much more obvious one. |
By:
Yes, Helter Skelter is my choice for a place. Twist by the way, has ran twice and won in March this year at Fontainebleau

By:
earthlight strained a fetlock, won't be seeing him anytime soon.

By:
will be against the fav, too short for these preps and they are generally run at muddling pace ,think helter skelt could reverse the form with the fav going on that last run . will have a closer look nearer the day . few interesting ones in there .

Tiger,
Apologies ref Twist, i was using RP database and it doesn't show the Fontainebleau race. |
