I've not read all this thread so it may have already been said,
but whats the point of cancelling all major outdoor sporting events, yet let people continue going to work on packed trains and tubes.? Either a shut down of the whole system, or carry on...my moneys on the latter |

Workers will never not go to work
Its their religion Dambuster its strange they are postponing games, I think its just to cause panic and fear more than anything, they wont cancel Cheltenham and they certainly wont be cancelling the Euros either, if that gets cancelled I'll eat my hat Odd few league games is jack s***, they'll play them in a couple of weeks and the likes of Inter will be chuffed with the extra few days rest Money spinning sporting events like the Euros? not a chance |
By:
And this is where the bafflement comes in, because none of their sporting money spinners are ever cancelled, but people believe them when they try to cause fear and panic
They make money from both sides of it ie panic buying petrol so the oil prices go up ![]() |

They cud easily run Chelters behind closed doors cos no realistic chance of rescheduling due to messing with Aintree and Punchestown festivals ......but they wont cos theres too much corporate dollar involved

Cheltenham can go ahead until they start cancelling football matches (which could easily be done since Liverpool have won anyway).
By:
I hope I'm wrong but I fear Ian Renton's confidence (that the Festival will go ahead) is sadly misplaced. His predecessor, Edward Gillespie, was similarly confident back in 2001 when foot & mouth struck.
Renton is as clueless as the rest of us engaging in debate on this forum. The decision to cancel will be the Government's to take. The current media-fuelled scaremongering only increases the possibility that the Government will implement a ban on social gatherings - at concerts, football matches and race meetings. |

The media are a disgrace

3 more cases confirmed this morning in the uk the first in wales.
By:
As someone said earlier no one is going to stop this virus and whether Cheltenham goes ahead or not is basically an irrelevance but obviously media latching on to it which I agree foxy is a disgrace.
By:
Some irrelevance if twenty old people die as a direct result of attending Cheltenham.
By:
if 20 people are going to die because they attend chelt then by the same token thousands would day from normal day to day contact
what he's saying is that in the scheme of things chelt will be an irrelevance because the bigger picture is what matters, the meeting being called off will be because the whole country is in a state of panic with school closures, self isolation, the nhs over run, jobs/work on shut down, panic buying in supermarkets, so do you really think chelt is that important in the bigger picture? |
