This Henderson horse in the mdn hdl opening the card at Plumpton has looked bonkers in both bumper and hdls run so far, very free.
Would be worried after a couple of months on slow ground how it settled today for Nico but behind the Nicholls hotpot (whose form in book is lofty for race like this IMO), it's pure guesswork about the rest in a weak looking field. Have cut place lay selections out like this where the opposition could be complete carp as often is the case in these races bar 2 or 3 runners!

My pref would be Nicholls to win
But as you say not enough in the rest to go PL for Hendo And win price won't do much
|
By:
Hendo very good record in mdn hdls too, above market expectations not just % winners.
1 run over hdls dodgy to base a strong decision. Not interested in win mkt at price as you say with few in behind that look likely to help out. Still interested to see how this horse goes through the race after it's antics so far.

Happy I've been true to my strategy from the start Most of my selections have been between evs - 2/1 ( odd 1 above odd 1 below) I have thrown any darts at very short ones. The shortest I've layed was a Hendo horse at 1.7 ish last week. Makes no difference to me if im top or bottom because I know i'm terrible at laying. As I stated from the very start if i was in profit by the end that was a goo result for me ![]() ![]()

I think it would have been unplaced without the faller 2 out tbh
but have to get in the habit of leaving these place lays in poor races! certainly a horse that needs to sort it's head out a bit if progressing.

Those that think the market knows everything!
A weak looking mdn hurdle last time but they couldn't get enough of it today back in hcps where it hasn't pulled up any trees. Strange. I didn't want to join in and copy the selection but a very good one at price. wd flatcap too ![]()

Flatcap,
My strategy has been to pick something around 3/1 and have the short priced Fav running for me. The trick about betting is not the winning – it’s the not losing. Because if you lose too often you are out of the game.

I'm thinking of changing the format slightly regarding entries. Selections in by 15 mins before the first race of the day. If that's agreeable and the numbers still hold up I could probably continue it as it makes things much much easier.I can then just go through the results in one go after last selection (which I will know early rather than eg waiting for possibles at 8:30 at night)

Without a strategy you defiantly will fail to make a profit

I'm very confident with horses I know and then judging the price they are and race they are in.
But a lot of picks are searching for selections with horses not known so well because I want to lay around 6/4 avg odds. the worst thing to do is try and make something fit that doesn't and have done that too much. would be better picking something at bigger odds some days than chancing arm.

Just use January as a test. Then stick to something you know is correct, rather than as you say trying fit square peg into a round hole. ![]() ![]()
