@platini - are you talking about bets with the books (BF's or anyone else's) when, yes, they cut the terms to 2 places or the EW markets on here, which - like the TBP markets - don't change the number of places they pay once loaded?

In the old days of 1/3 Odds - 5,6,7 runners = then there WAS some value to be had - But First and Second Place ONLY betting is a bad bet (strategy) nowadays.

as Longbridge says, to be on the safe side, back on the win market and then the place market, you can then give yourself a higher chance of winning if you back the win at 20% stake and the place at 80%, so if it comes 2nd or 3rd (or more on some markets) you can still win.

Some bookies are doing 4 places on 8 runners, not sure what's happening on here now with the 4,5 and 6 place markets.

@big aitch that wasn't what I meant to say (though in practice it's what I do, I like 20/80 betting) - I meant to say that the Exchange EW market is 'safe' under non-runners - you get RF'd, but keep the same number of places and fraction of the Win price for the Place portion.

Just in case Platini does not know, if you back a n/r your stakes are returned to you.

Are you thinking of late non runners Longbridge? prices will be cut if you get a non runner after you have backed of course in any of the markets.

The place markets are much better than the EW ones anyway, they allow the flexibility of setting your own win/place percentage of bet instead of the fixed 50-50, and there always seems to be more activity on the place markets.

NP - I'm aware prices will be cut (both on and off course) if there are NRs, but if you back EW on the BF Exch your place terms won't change.

But would you be certain that all on course bookmakers altered their payments from 1/5 odds to 1/4 when reduced to 2 places?

the computer program with my system [ elite which is tied to betfair ] corrects it automatically.
amazing how many seem surprised when they are paid more than their tickets state

If you suspect non-runners (going for eg) backing ew on Betfair markets is not a bad practice. Number of places remain the same (unlike bookmakers) and the reduction factor is based on the win market (which compares favourably with Betfair place markets).
