Make many mistakes. Changing bets(alpha centuri to clemie the latest) and betting too large in a temper after a loss or 2, naming a few.
Funniest friend did about 15yrs ago, not on bf was trying to arb Lakers and another team in bb series of games. After placing the 2 bets he realised he had mistakenly backed 1 team to win the first game and the other to win the series . As you guessed, both bets lost. Suppose that's what student loans are for. |

Not on here, but quite a few years ago on IG index with world stock market indices.
I was watching the Dax (Germany) and was sure it was going to fall. I wanted to sell at £33 a point, but was too hasty on the keyboard and pressed another 3 by mistake, making £333 a point. Within a minute although the index had only moved a few points i was over 2K down, i got scared and bought out. It went down later ![]() |

Seaside,
In theory yes, but you can only lose balance of the account or over your credit limit. You get a margin call before funds are exhausted or limit is reached anyway. If you don't pay the margin quickly, your trade gets settled at the time. If i had left it running, i would have won a tidy sum. Trading these markets in the easiest way to make a million legally, but it's also the easiest to lose one (although you only could if you had it in the first place of course). |

Rule one, laying in handicaps, don’t lay top jockeys like Moore, Atzeni and SDS as their superior strength often get a horse home
|
|
By:
Tangle,
Got to disagree with laying in handicaps, irrespective of the jockey. The number one rule in betting is discipline. Good luck. |

The biggest mistake I made was backing Don't Push It (the year after it had one the National) for 3k with the intention of laying it once the price shortened on Betfair to more closely match the bookie prices which were about 1/2 the price. It didn't shorten much on the exchange so I ended up with a 3k win bet which I eventually was able to lay off after it had jumped the chair.
I had called the bookies side right it went off 9/1 and I had backed it at 18/1 on Betfair. It eventually finished 3rd and I made a profit of ~£200 but risked 3k whilst it jumped a large number of the national fences. The least enjoyable National I ever watched. |

Not on here - although on here I have made a fair few - but in 1996 I backed the Tories to win over a certain number of seats at the nest general election. Used my Sporting Index spread betting account at £25 a seat.
By the time of the 1997 election I was well behind but decided to let it roll just in case. Yeah, good move cos' that cost me over £2500!! BUT what made it so much worse was that in 1998 I did an article on spread betting for a gambling magazine. I spent an afternoon at Sporting Index to research it and during that time they swore blind that around 1/2 past midnight on election day in 1997, the Tories seat spread swung to that party because a huge punter had piled in on the opposite side. It only lasted for a short while but it transpired that had I sat up to watch the coverage I may well have been able to close my bet on the Tories for a medium-sized profit instead of taking what was a big loss!! |

im claiming the title for the greatest variety of ways to do it in
sky+ to look at photo and forgetting to reset it and playing the rest of the day 30 seconds behind. got some great prices laying the jolly in france as it was tailed but it was the next race, they were 40 mins behind and the same colours won the next laying one in the u.s. as it chucked its rider. it was an outrider and of course id laid winner backed grey horse flashing home on nearside rail right under camera. didnt have a jokey on it backing i/r grey horse no 5 in blinkers in france with a feed 8 seconds in front. it was no 15 also grey with blinkers but jokeys leg obscured the 1. thought id won 4k but lost 800 laid one playing up at the start and it duly planted. false start. next time it went off in front and led all the way |
|
By:
Love them all mitolo ( not because they cost you ) but particularly the outrider. Could see that happening. The no. 15 is another. So infuriating at times when the saddle cloth obscures part of a number.
Be lucky. |
