I have layed this gee gee to lose two large it's a 2 mile race so just before the race starts I back it I like a dope have clicked on the lay and not the back so the race is off I am thinking this is fate as the horse is at the back of the field not going that well
Me thinks I am going to let this run a bit and see what happens sure enough the price goes out but now is all I can see is the doller signs.
Make many mistakes. Changing bets(alpha centuri to clemie the latest) and betting too large in a temper after a loss or 2, naming a few. Funniest friend did about 15yrs ago, not on bf was trying to arb Lakers and another team in bb series of games. After placing the 2 bets he realised he had mistakenly backed 1 team to win the first game and the other to win the series . As you guessed, both bets lost. Suppose that's what student loans are for.

Not on here, but quite a few years ago on IG index with world stock market indices.
I was watching the Dax (Germany) and was sure it was going to fall. I wanted to sell at £33 a point, but was too hasty on the keyboard and pressed another 3 by mistake, making £333 a point.
Within a minute although the index had only moved a few points i was over 2K down, i got scared and bought out. It went down later

In theory yes, but you can only lose balance of the account or over your credit limit. You get a margin call before funds are exhausted or limit is reached anyway. If you don't pay the margin quickly, your trade gets settled at the time. If i had left it running, i would have won a tidy sum.
Trading these markets in the easiest way to make a million legally, but it's also the easiest to lose one (although you only could if you had it in the first place of course).

The biggest mistake I made was backing Don't Push It (the year after it had one the National) for 3k with the intention of laying it once the price shortened on Betfair to more closely match the bookie prices which were about 1/2 the price. It didn't shorten much on the exchange so I ended up with a 3k win bet which I eventually was able to lay off after it had jumped the chair.
I had called the bookies side right it went off 9/1 and I had backed it at 18/1 on Betfair. It eventually finished 3rd and I made a profit of ~£200 but risked 3k whilst it jumped a large number of the national fences. The least enjoyable National I ever watched.

Dreadful seaside. In one way or another we have all been there. To a greater or lesser extent. Storm Alert - . Sorry to laugh but it is in a sense of “thank pluck that wasn’t me”. What have been your rank luckiest returns on bf?

won plenty on photos overall but got some wrong. But three times knew what had won but clicked the wrong horse . Cost £300+ on one couple of tons the others.

Not on here - although on here I have made a fair few - but in 1996 I backed the Tories to win over a certain number of seats at the nest general election. Used my Sporting Index spread betting account at £25 a seat.
By the time of the 1997 election I was well behind but decided to let it roll just in case. Yeah, good move cos' that cost me over £2500!!
BUT what made it so much worse was that in 1998 I did an article on spread betting for a gambling magazine.
I spent an afternoon at Sporting Index to research it and during that time they swore blind that around 1/2 past midnight on election day in 1997, the Tories seat spread swung to that party because a huge punter had piled in on the opposite side. It only lasted for a short while but it transpired that had I sat up to watch the coverage I may well have been able to close my bet on the Tories for a medium-sized profit instead of taking what was a big loss!!

Love them all mitolo ( not because they cost you ) but particularly the outrider. Could see that happening. The no. 15 is another. So infuriating at times when the saddle cloth obscures part of a number. Be lucky.

About 30 years ago, when BBC used to show the Masters live on Sunday night. Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie were in a play off with some other guy. I was watching on BBC2 and in those days had a telephone account will Billies. I knew Montgomerie would blow it and phoned Billies and asked for £500 on Els. The operative laughed and said "we all want £500 on Els" and proceeded to tell me Montgomerie had been knocked out at the first hole and Els was about to win the playoff. It turned out the "live" transmission was time delayed by the BBC by nearly 60mins; a little white lie they used to get away with back in the day...

When Monty played in a Scottish Open, or was about to, his divorce had just become public knowledge, very public knowledge and he was in a sorry mess. I thought to myself if he is ever to miss a cut this is the time. Not only did I bet him to miss it I inflated shop odds and laid him with all my golf outing mates to massive jeering and derision. He fluffed the first day - brilliant. Different Monty second day but on the 35th he put his ball knee high and, to my gut-wrenching dismay, got it out and two feet from the pin to birdie. The big galoot parred the last, cost me a fortune and rubbed it in by hacking around on the final two days.

Think you might mean the US Open regards Ernie and Monty ,Els never won a Masters. Too many ricks to mention but backing Dennis Smith from all rates from 25 down to 1.05 to beat the Phil Taylor was up there as a sleep loser.
