Knowing the Australia racing rulers and Vets = NON-Runner 1.01 ... They are very quick to spot the sligthtest thing - and are very STRICT about letting horses run, of which there is the SLIGHTEST doubt.
Even if it all happened too late to get him out of the Stalls - Australian Stewards have the authority to review the Start of ant 'Slow Starters'- and, if there was a clear incident IN the Stalls - then, again = NON-Runner 1.01.

Presumably in Australia there is the equivalent of a Rule 4 so the backers of the winner lose out? I am all in favour of horse and jockey welfare but to pretend that punters are better off if there are refunds is just plain wrong. Some punters get heir money back, others get the same amount or more docked from their winnings.
