Getting ridiculous. Some of those 2-y-olds were in the stalls for nearly 5 mins at Ayr. The Johnston horse fell outve the stalls while the second last to load winner got a flyer. There was only 8 runners ffs.

They need to adjust the rules that races can start before the off time, but the bookies would not allow it.
Report sparrow June 23, 2018 1:57 PM BST
Someone will be along shortly to defend the trainers and say it's all the fault of the claustrophobic stalls.

they arent the best but you could stick them through stalls at home every day but some will still act up on course.totally different environment.
Report MJK June 23, 2018 2:02 PM BST
Can they not load two in at a time?
Report sparrow June 23, 2018 2:03 PM BST
Why is it they don't seem to have these massive delays elsewhere in the world?
Report TheFear June 23, 2018 2:03 PM BST
it's so boring waiting five minutes for a handful to load, the bha need to wake up
Report Ibrahima Sonko June 23, 2018 2:05 PM BST
should be able to load them 3 at a time.

do you watch the same amount of foreign racing to say that is right?

Report sparrow June 23, 2018 2:08 PM BST
I watch American racing every day.
Report the dealer June 23, 2018 2:10 PM BST
aye but different stalls over there, its the claustraphobic effect Wink
Report dave1357 June 23, 2018 2:11 PM BST
well you would know that us racing is almost never off at the published time
Report sparrow June 23, 2018 2:11 PM BST
Precisely dealer. People spending fortunes on horses and yet the industry can't afford some proper starting stalls.
Report dave1357 June 23, 2018 2:12 PM BST
the stalls are larger in the us because there is a handler in beside every horse
Report sparrow June 23, 2018 2:13 PM BST
We are talking about the amount of time it takes to load the horses Dave and the adverse effects on others stuck in the stalls up to 5 minutes. Nothing to do with off times at all.
Report sparrow June 23, 2018 2:15 PM BST
And while the industry is purchasing some proper stalls it can employ a few extra handlers as well.
Report TheFear June 23, 2018 2:17 PM BST
these stalls weren't liked from day 1
Report dave1357 June 23, 2018 2:18 PM BST
28 handlers for the wokingham?

oh wait the widened stalls wouldn't fit to 20 max runners - problem solved
Report TheFear June 23, 2018 2:18 PM BST
they shd all be trained to the same standard as Witheford? Why not?

American racing is not a travelling circus. Our stalls are designed to be packed up at the end of the day and carted off to the next course. The problem is not just (or even mainly) that they are too small and claustrophobic, but that they are rickety and noisy.
