Getting ridiculous. Some of those 2-y-olds were in the stalls for nearly 5 mins at Ayr. The Johnston horse fell outve the stalls while the second last to load winner got a flyer. There was only 8 runners ffs.

They need to adjust the rules that races can start before the off time, but the bookies would not allow it.

Someone will be along shortly to defend the trainers and say it's all the fault of the claustrophobic stalls.

Can they not load two in at a time?

Why is it they don't seem to have these massive delays elsewhere in the world?

well you would know that us racing is almost never off at the published time

Precisely dealer. People spending fortunes on horses and yet the industry can't afford some proper starting stalls.

the stalls are larger in the us because there is a handler in beside every horse

We are talking about the amount of time it takes to load the horses Dave and the adverse effects on others stuck in the stalls up to 5 minutes. Nothing to do with off times at all.

And while the industry is purchasing some proper stalls it can employ a few extra handlers as well.

these stalls weren't liked from day 1

28 handlers for the wokingham?

oh wait the widened stalls wouldn't fit to 20 max runners - problem solved

American racing is not a travelling circus. Our stalls are designed to be packed up at the end of the day and carted off to the next course. The problem is not just (or even mainly) that they are too small and claustrophobic, but that they are rickety and noisy.
