I really don't get this.
Betfair make £180 million in the first 6 months 2017, do they really need to charge us for watching a race. Some of us don't want to bet every race, but we do still want to watch the race, perhaps for a roll up or placepot, etc.
So why make us put at least 50p on the race, apart from the obvious answer, profit!
But even there, if you have £10 for the day, you ain't gonna use more are you, not to watch the race!
C'mon betfair, remove this ridiculous rule.

Wouldn't it be free to all then?
Report Wesdag June 1, 2018 1:57 PM BST
That is would the providers have stipulated apparently. Not BF's decision.
Report Wesdag June 1, 2018 1:57 PM BST
*would = what
Report DenzilPenberthy June 1, 2018 2:10 PM BST
Why should anybody expect freebies?
Report sparrow June 1, 2018 2:13 PM BST
What does the OP mean by 50p per race when he talks about Betfair?
£5 on here isn't it or have they reduced it?
Report Lampus June 1, 2018 2:16 PM BST
sportbook i think
Report impossible123 June 1, 2018 2:17 PM BST
To charge 50p to watch a race is ridiculous, greedy and unreasonable; antepost bet does not count either.
Report sparrow June 1, 2018 2:18 PM BST
Oh right, thanks lampus I never use that Sportsbook so I wouldn't have known.
Report jmdc June 1, 2018 2:19 PM BST
The Sportsbook mugs pay only 50p - fcking great!

Report elise June 1, 2018 2:23 PM BST

Interesting. I always assumed you had to have a bet that was net of trading.
Of course I mainly play in the US where it is free and if I do bet in the UK my minimum has been a fiver ever since I got ambitious   Happy
Report lewisham ranger June 1, 2018 3:07 PM BST
it's just a way to encourage some action. to encourage people to bet on the race.

^ The software couldn't cope in the time salmon.
Report mouse muldoon June 1, 2018 3:11 PM BST
I got my £5 trade wrong last time I dunnit and ended up sponking away 10 pence or so.
Report elise June 1, 2018 3:12 PM BST
the only thing i thought re this, was that if you had a multi bet then you could watch all the legs for free regardless of the stake, if that's changed then i'm not aware of it
