Andrew - while I don’t religiously follow your tips (back or lay) I thoroughly enjoy reading your thoughts on the days racing so please ignore Kemo Knobhead and his other aliases and continue the excellent work. And enjoy your time with you daughter - much more important in the grand scheme of things.

Good afternoon Guys and Girls,
Many thanks for the positive comments, much appreciated. No lay post today, although not for time constraints as so often the case, but simply due to not seeing one I was content to post. Many races were not applicable anyway, due to odds limit (or odds-on that I do lay myself on occasion, but not post on the thread). I don’t want to guess, nor post for the sake of it, there’s always another day. Yesterday’s Sunday thoughts summary will not take long as i only posted the Sunday shortie, Cilaois Emery who duly won, albeit @ 4/5 SP, a little shorter than envisaged (2.16 at time of posting). It was only a 3 horse race and due to several early mistakes by Great Field it was soon apparent the race would probably only concern two of them, this was borne out when he UR 4 out. I don’t think he would have won anyway and I was surprised he raced from rear of the field. The front two were jumping well enough with only minor mistakes, and although Ballyoisin (rated 169) was 5L or 6L clear at one stage, the favourite was always travelling well in behind and by the time they were approaching 3 out, he was clearly going the better. Once he took over in front, it was a question of how far and even though Danny rode him to the line, he had the luxury of looking back and basically coasted home, winning easily by 7L. This was a good performance from a classy type (won the Irish Champion Novice hurdle) who didn’t race last year, but is now unbeaten in 3 chases. Another similar race beckons, possibly at Leopardstown on December 27th and assuming he wins as impressively there must come into the reckoning for the Cheltenham champion chase. On to this afternoon, I didn’t really fancy anything, back or lay, although I was surprised Middlebrow was 12/1 at Musselburgh (13.45). On a less surprising note, i have blocked MMFTY. Good luck and have a nice afternoon all. ![]() |

I haven’t spoken to Andrew but there’s no doubt in my mind this is the offensive post from MMFTY that has prompted his decision. :-
"mymumsfinethankyou 08 Dec 19 12:08 ok enough about your daughter ffs,, whats the lay,,oh its not the end of the monthyet ,,my mistake. " Please will everyone block him and Kemo Sabe and not respond to them in anyway whatsoever in future. You will be doing Andrew and the Forum a favour. This is the only way to get this thread back to the fun place it used to be (mince pies & puddings). ![]() Thank you xx |

Lay Post
Wolverhampton 18.05 - Maqboola A 3 year old Tamayuz filly trained by Richard Hughes in Lambourne, Berkshire. US dam, 3 offspring with a 2/20 winning strike rate. Unraced as a 2 year old Lightly raced, only 3 runs in novice/maiden stakes, starting out at 7f, reducing to 6f and 5f LTO. Probably ran with a future handicap mark in mind. and if she was trained by Sir Mark Prescott, i certainly wouldn't be laying her. Steps up in trip significantly this evening. Form is no more than average, 10th of 18 on debut on the AW (class 4) but we can ignore this. Improved next time out finishing 4th of 10 (class 5) although it wasn't a particularly good field (several large odds runners behind her) and the form hasn't been franked, in fact some have run poorly since. Ran to a similar level LTO finishing 4th of 7 on the course (class 5) but again the form hasn't been franked since. Drawn in 12 is a negative. A tightly knit handicap of 13 runners, only 6 lb between top and bottom and a few winners in the field. Runs against her elders for the first time and also debut in a handicap. A mark of 52 is not exactly leniant. Whilst the step up to 8.5f may be beneficial (not a given) i feel her odds are way too short for what she's actually achieved, even allowing for the 1 class drop. I haven't got a clue who the likely winner is, but offer a tentative EW selection in Navarra Princess around 25/1 (3 lb lower than last winning mark Lay @ 3.50 (ref my post at 16.18). Good luck all. |
