Why would the courses go to trouble of creating an equal opportunity
because someone else is doing it anyway and taking the £ instead of them, the gambling commission have had a very long time to do something but havent |
|
By:
the opportunity will never be equal for ppl at home, there will always be a slight transmission delay
|
|
By:
Difference is the PC is collected from winners whereas slowing down pics is messing around everyone that plays IR apart from track players.
|
|
By:
This is different, they have actively acknowledged the value of the course pictures and divided between those paying a premium and those who arnt.
Unless ofc they delay all pics....which they dont. |
|
By:
If its a 'rights issue' then all fast pictures are in danger of being streamed, irrespective of how much they pay (or dont) to watch them.
|
|
By:
Rider , the gambling commission won't have known about the slowing of big screens/ track TV's until recently will they ? ( that's if they know now ! )
|
|
By:
the slowing of the big screen is just another symptom of the cause though that they are well aware of and they are supposed to be looking after the interests of punters..i have got that right havent i?!
hopefully you are correct that it should make them think again about something they would probably rather sweep under the carpet |

All above board !! Try turning up at a track with your Tv and laptop and ask if you can play in-running using fast pics. Why do people like you strike "deals" with tracks to prevent anyone else getting a box or having an equal opportunity ? Seems strange that you are concerned with people breaking the rights of others unless you have lived your life within the law ![]() |

Too much easy, short term cash on offer for sensible long term decisions to be taken.

From the GC and whether a licence is needed ...
Racecourse hospitality boxes Racecourse hospitality boxes offer services such as a live picture feed. As long as a track or individual is not advertising the availability of the box as a trading room, or offering facilities which are not part of the standard hospitality package, it is unlikely that an operating or premises licence will be required. However, each case will be judged on its individual circumstances. |
|
By:
I think this can be backdated so i'd advise the tracks to get their trading room licences sorted pronto ...
|
|
By:
Thought the trading shops had to have gambling licences so how do the racetracks that are unlicensed get away with it ?
|
|
By:
Willies gone quiet

|
By:
So the standard hospitality package now includes faster pictures than the rest of the racecourse.
|
|
By:
The worry is that by artificially slowing some pictures and not sufficiently monitoring what happens to those that arnt, this will inadvertently create a veritable sacrarium of potential abuse as the possiblity of the former infringement increases the plausability of the latter.

*as decreasing the possiblity of the former infringement increases the plausability of the latter

not related particularly -so forgive , but still on speed theme
but I do know Bet 365 can sort bets out in seconds what can take betfair 30 mins - place bets particularly this may be due to sheer volume / numbers of bets - so may not be an accurate upfront statement. |

spot on fredlyn, slow as hell on here for place market settling, drives me mad.

Standard hospitality box has delayed pictures , only the in-running boxes have access to the real "live" pictures ![]() |

Officials were able to watch the action live on an alternative feed for integrity purposes
still not sure which officials we are talking about |

Facetime seems good from Hexham today

Will the BHA investigate this or will the 80-100 track players be allowed to dictate to the courses how to treat their customers ?
|
|
By:
Personally I have no problem with the protecting of IP through delaying of course pics.
They just need to apply the rule equally or its a bogus argument. |
|
By:
Lord Pannick QC is particularly well versed in the practices of modern gambling having been charged with advising BF on the legality of a number of issues, perhaps he should be consulted as to where the purchasing of privilege sits within the boundries of the GC's remit?
|
|
By:
Wonder how much the tracks are being paid to shaft the rest of the paying customers ?

No Bath pics? More easy, easy money for a handful of people.

Anyone who wants to promote in running for the masses or complain about the Wolver situation. David Roberts is the correct person to email at Wolverhampton.

promote ir? ffs you're embarrassing yourself.

any racing journalists visiting chelmsford,,, the track is rabidly anti-in-running. But rumours abound they allow a small group to play there. Perhaps Fraser will confirm or deny.
|
|
By:
I know who he is willie, thanks. That's why i contacted him. They take a bit more notice when owners start complaining rather than the box players who will desert him in a heartbeat if faster pics became available.

owners or facetimers? doesnt effect owners are you really this thick?

This latest move isn't progress though it is a track owners right and focus to protect the integrity and distribution of its media rights. Forget the value to each track from in running corporate boxes for a second the bigger concern is the value of their media rights - last year alone RMG (Racecourse Media Group) generated and paid £85.5 million to 34 racetracks, that's just over half the tracks around the UK.

methinks you doth protest too much, willie? Im an owner and im complaining.

Many trading firms physically move their trading offices to a building next door to the exchange to reduce latency - a US company laid an incredible fibre optic cable in a straight line 827 miles between NY and Chicago to cut the time to execute deals to 13 milliseconds. 200 trading firms signed up immediately for US$ 2.8 Billion. They paid so they could play faster Whats happening here isn't new - few things rarely are - its evolution and protection by the tracks of their most valuable commodity - their media rights.

media rights
. Yes the 20 people watching them make all the difference. As I said before what about the ATR free on 7 east. Do media rights not matter if the pics are slow? |
|
By:
As an owner (regardless of in running) the customer/patron is MUCH MORE important than the few people in a box. And the racegoers experience shouldn't be lowered for in running purposes.

are you really this unintelligent? are you?
so sitting in the odeon with a camcorder streaming the latest film is ok according to you? stop making an utter fool of yourself man. |
