Totally agree Slippy. Weaver ought to say it as it is!

The whole bunch of the racing media are a gutless bunch of cowards, not one of them have got any balls, we need the football media to take their places, they will tell how it is
By:
Lack of determination to hold his ground cost him the race.
Plus the fact he went too slowly early on and made it sprint finish. |
By:
its sad that in football carragher/neville would slaughter a defender who messes up and in racing they are all desperately trying to tell the viewers black is white

I'd pick up for jockeys as much as anyone I would say but that is impossible to defend. He clearly stopped riding for whatever reason (possibly thought he was beaten) and then 100 yards or so later realises he isn't and starts riding again and almost gets back up
By:
i would like to hear from buik, he knows he stopped riding like everyone else so why? is the question, maybe he had a good reason (like with stage magic), i'd be surprised if there isnt something in the stewards notes at the end of the day, this really does show the media up for what they are
By:
I would like to see the head-on a few times.
They came close. He might have got a boot stuck against another horse/jockey. He stopped. Perhaps something stopped him, or he thought the horse was in trouble. |
By:
What we need is Fitzy and Thommo to grill Buick forensically, as only they can, and then ask Fahey for his thoughts!
If that happened in India, Singapore or Hong Kong the stands would now be burning brightly and Buick would be a very nervous boy! |
By:
Front running cost him, the horse isn't picking up so he thinks it's beat. As soon as he gets a lead he picks up the bridle again and comes back in his hands. Obviously he's front run before but looks like he's getting lazy. The fact that the gravy men on ruk don't even mention that Buick stopped riding for 100 yrds is just embarrassing.

murtagh criticised him

He clearly stopped riding for whatever reason (possibly thought he was beaten)
arrogance he was still in the places and there was nothing wrong with the horse, should have been riding out to the line |
By:
At least if it had been on ATR they would be reading out the e-mails

By:
he's another 1 who is too big for his boots

Great ride by Buick

steering jobs don't impress me
By:
If he came on and admitted he'd fecked up he'd win most round in an instant.
By:
he's too arrogant to do that
By:
gives up on an 8/13 shot yet tries like fack on a 12/1 shot bent as fack this game lol
By:
Ribchester should have been was a steering job, however instead of getting on the rail and going a tad harder it seems he never had the trust in his horses superiority over the rest of the field and spent the majority of the race nursing him through it instead of putting the others to the sword.

THE QATAR SUSSEX STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 1) (British Champions Series)
The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why William Buick, the rider of RIBCHESTER (IRE), placed second, had appeared to ease for a few strides approaching the final furlong. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race they noted his explanation that the gelding had lugged right-handed, and being mindful that he may run onto the heels of the winner, HERE COMES WHEN (IRE), he eased for a few strides before continuing to ride when the colt became re-balanced and ran straight again. |

didnt seem to match up to what he told the stewards

Only one question to ask - had you not stopped riding would you have won? Not rocket science but Persad as gutless as the rest.
By:
Rishi should have asked him do you think you should stayed on the rail and deny Frankie the room?
By:
Very poor ride, was interviewed but blamed the horse not himself which I didn't like!
Would think Godolphin will have a look at this ride too.Dettori out thought him and Buick didn't have the balls to shut him in...... |

Race 4 - 3:35pm
THE QATAR SUSSEX STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 1) (British Champions Series) The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why William Buick, the rider of RIBCHESTER (IRE), placed second, had appeared to ease for a few strides approaching the final furlong. The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why RIBCHESTER (IRE) and TOSCANINI (IRE), both trained by Richard Fahey, had failed to parade in the correct order for this race. They interviewed the trainer. Having heard his evidence, the Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (B)30 and fined him £1000. ![]() |

cursory mention about the ride on RUK
the stewards asked about it & noted thecomments |

By:
It's okay as they moved on

The breach of rule should include free bets to the value of the stake staked to all people who backed this coont
By:
RUK mention it after it becomes official, but too timid to say anything immediately after the race
By:
As a wounded but hopefully not vindictive punter I struggle to see how Buick can emerge from this sufficiently intact that any top class stable would want to trust him again. I imagine Fahey will be having a word with Godolphin regarding future riding arrangements for his stable star. It will take a long time for this catastrophic riding error to leave the racing public consciousness!
