My suggestions for racing
1) - A Tote(monopoly) online exchange, I think it important it starts online, followed by shops. End of suggestion! |

I'll miss it. Have some great memories of me and my mates jumping a train from Waterloo after work for the summer evening flat meetings. Those meetings always had a very uplifting feel about them. Nice sunshine, cold beer, some lovely ladies and good races. Sandown never seemed to go in much for the evening racing. Dont know if they do now. They certainly should if Kempton shuts. Their has to be a course close to London doing decent summer evening racing.

so no room for race course bookmakers then metro john some who spend upwards of 30,000 a year on badge and entry fees on the uk tracks money i doubt they can turn away.

less resistance off punters with the online end and deductions similar if not same as is here!
By:
sounds thrilling a tote monopoly.

By:
Embrace change foxy, this model is the way to go, let it go!

A Tote exchange is not the current tote, the deductions can be the same as betfair, we just have to change our mind state a little
By:
Racing especially those within racing must call for it, that is the hard part??? stand or die.
By:
restricting choice is almost never the way to go
By:
a good example of that wondersobright is only having one trade paper a very weak one because it can be.

By:
No need to buy out this firm, start fresh, steady growth close competition and bobs ya uncle revenue to keep the historic races and jobs. Course need to improve method of revenue within their property. Many courses will still have to close , this is inevitable in the short term.

By:
Who is to say they won't be back in another 10 years to do the same to Sandown .
Like many aspects of life in the UK these days , I feel very strongly that very few people in positions of authority are working for their clients interests. |

I would ask trainers and staff to consider my point, the Media sponsored by Bookmakers is very much like the Bank control over Governments, you will never get the call to action that is needed. Sherwood and Henderson are correct, but strategy and goal must be established.
By:
in no way have I suggested the current situation is perfect but a tote monopoly is not the answer
betting into a tote market is not what most people do over here and you would see pitiful pools only slightly less on their arse than what they are now |

Kempton has the "KING GEORGE " and !

The exchanges were born with the goal of making it easier and without travelling to make a bet, the ongoing economic climate will dictate that people(the greater mass) slow their past habit of attending racetrack, the outlook is bleak with the current set up in racing, it does not take an economic genius to see the outlook for trainers and staff, now is the time to start taking racing back in the direction that keeps the sport alive. We must break attachments with the bookmakers.

MJ have you for 1 minute considered the betting habits of punters in this country?
no I thought not its not propaganda, its a deep rooted mindset that we (most people) take prices over here if the tote was the only option to bet on horse racing, I simply would not bet at all...and I suspect I am not the only 1 with this view a tote system funding a vibrant racing industry is a nice idea but it is utopia I'm afraid |
By:
Do you take a price on exchanges Wondersobright? I hope you can see the vision.
By:
Betfair is not a utopia, we would just be copying it.
By:
I either take or request prices on here MJ
I don't put money into a pool and cross my fingers I get a price that I will like |
By:
I am not talking pool for christ sake man.
By:
ah so you are suggesting an "industry exchange" not a tote??
By:
A Tote exchange for the industry.
By:
With on-course terminals and shops to be incorporated in time. (we can dream)
By:
the word tote means parimutuel betting, ie a pool system
you are not proposing a tote, you are proposing an industry exchange...correct? |
By:
The two meaning the same thing ultimately
By:
please explain how they can ever mean the same thing??
an exchange is based on people specifying prices a pool is the exact opposite |
