No mention of the Exchange in 2017 .....not too hard to work out who's idea that was.
And no replays of the 2 races before going on air .........one won by a woman(inclusivity/diversity points) and one by a 50/1 winner(look what you could have won!).

Got better as it went on so not a bad start but really can't fathom why they need that many people on it. Just makes it seem clustered.

Doing everything outside has been a lot better than stuck inside a claustrophobic coffin of a studio.

Ed doesn't have a rod stuck of his ar se like Nick Luck.

Matt might not be giving all the info like exchange odds but has been better than Tanya who was just way too static and not very engaging.

Luke doing his luke act.

Fitzy doing a fair bit of work for a change...

AP & Alice - not required.

Agree it picked up as it went along and the racing became the news. Would much prefer the gravitas that Jim McGrath brings on form and race analysis but we may be alright.

Harvey both looks and sounds as though he has 'special needs'.
All the women were a complete waste of space
Chapman is both a cretin and an imbecile
Chamberlain looked veruy uncomfortable being undermined by Chapman
McCoy wasn't aware of what his role was
Fitzgerald was Fitzgerald

All in all a dumbed down programme which at times was painful and embarrassing to watch.

[/i]"I'll take all this in my stride and be thankful for racing on TV but that presentation for Shantou Flyer by Chapman was so over the top and frankly embarrassing and just not needed. He sounded like he was introducing two heavyweight boxers in Vegas."[/i]

Yes, that was just awful. I was disappointed in Matt Chapman today.

I thought Luke was very good.

Better not be. They might just get away with it on the first programme on a public holiday but it will be a completely different thing if they start pulling the your bet returns crap at Cheltenham on a Tuesday afternoon.

It won't get any better.
People want to back winners not listen to millionaires like McCoy and Fitzy riding the gravy train.
They make it worse by trying to attract people who just aren't interested.

Like a pub that's on the rocks. They'll try anything to pull in new customers but all they achieve is to drive away the few customers they'd got left.

Make the best of it while it lasts.

I watched, and kept on watching, horse racing, snooker, rugby, cricket etc. on the box precisely because I couldn't understand what was going on at first, and nobody was explaining it to me. I took the view that these must be important activities, with which any normal, confident person should be familiar, so I'd better make the effort.

Any sport where the presenters patronize you, explaining every bloody detail like infant-school teachers, is an immediate switch-off. The sport looks like it's desperate.

Dr Crippen

How would you improve it?  Or perhaps any attempt at free to air racing tv is a waste of time.

When: 01 Jan 17 17:42
i disagree crippen...if i want to watch the racing channel with purely racing talk, i'll watch racing uk

channel 4 had become a racing channel, cunningham pizzing on about form and the like, it just isn't interesting even for racing people

some people just want to relax and not here all the talk in regards form, so hopefully itv will try and deliver that... it's a shame plunkett, mccoy, fitzgerald and persad survived, which is going to make it tough for itv to deliver a product that gives us racing people a relaxing afternoon of entertainment... i personally would of liked to of seen some new characters i hadn't seen before, lets hope that's in the pipeline

I am guessing most of the criticism is coming from people who actually find the likes of McNae, Willoughby, Steedman and co entertaining. Perhaps you should stick to RUK?

I thought ITV made a pretty good start.

Chamberlain was fine as the anchor. I don't care if he doesn't know the dam of the 1986 Derby winner. It doesn't really matter because the show isn't about him.

Why do some people still think you need a studio? If you were starting from scratch the last thing you would want for entertainment purposes would be two boring formheads sat in a studio analysing everything to death. Not missed at all.

The main worry was Chapman. It was if he was continually trying to push himself as the star of the show. He really needs to tone it down.

Hopefully, they will eventually find one person who can do a better job than McCoy and Harvey.

How on earth did people watch racing without an idiots guide the last time racing was on ITV.  Do you think they dropped it because nobody understood it?
